Damn half of this stuff doesnt even look 3D, your work has more of a digital painting feel to it.

Thanks for the nice comments (and for faving so much of my stuff). It's not that I dislike the 'Poser' look, it's just that right from the start I always enjoyed the entire 'package' as it were...setting up a scene, lighting, textures, storytelling and finally postwork in Photoshop, which as the years have gone by has meant my work has looked less and less 3d as I've developed my post working skills. It's an essential part of the process for me. I've never used Poser as the renderer either. I started by importing posed figures into Bryce a long time ago, then migrated to Cinema4D.

Still, your work has a very different feel to it.
I like the dark tone, the heavy emphasis on the sci fi feeling.
Wish I could spend that much time Postworking. lol.

Actually I've got my post working time finely tuned now as my skills have developed, so total percentage of time spent on a single image is fairly low compared to actually getting the scene set up right in the first place...but it has taken a lot of practice over the years.

Yeah, well thanks for giving me permission to use them. I haven't yet, but will in my Ghost Runner graphic novel, mostly for backgrounds. lol I'm not as skilled as you are with the chaotic explosions and action sequences yet. I have some of those Ron Explosions and Fire effects as well as brushes, yet I have no damn clue how to use the smoke or fire by making the effects realistic looking like you did. If your using the same brushes, it would be helpful if you could explain to me how you got the effects. Other than that, I do keep track of what you've been doing. Some of your sci fi scenes look custom made though, like you made them yourself. I've never seen some of those scenes for sale anywhere else.

Some of the sci-fi sets are awesome (especially from Stonemason)...the trouble is everyone can get them at a reasonable price, so they're recognizable everywhere in the Poser community. I like to use those sets in a way that makes them a little more unique, by breaking them down and kit bashing the various pieces with other props and models. You can do this in Poser I think, but it's so much easier to do in Cinema4D. Re-texturing stuff helps as well, either in the initial setup or in post work.
I use Deviney's brushes and layers for the most part, but there are also a lot of free photoshop stuff here at DA. I think the secret is just practice, practice, practice. I'm in no way an expert but I do feel my results get better with every picture. The trouble is finding the time to do it.

Actually nevermind, i'm going to just give the guide away for free rather than trying to sell it, but I'd really appreciate it if you let me borrow your work for some of the demonstrations in the scifi category. Since your much better than me at it.

Yeah...no problem, go ahead and use what you need. Send me a link to it when it's done as I'd like a look myself.
