been messin' around with some ink this month and made a short story, hope you like it! Forgive the lack of stylistic cohesion, it was mostly done for fun and experimentation as my ink game is almost nonexistentRelated content

In fairness, depending on her duties the open-faced bascinet is actually a pretty good choice. If she's mostly standing on guard and interacting with people, the open-face not only makes it a lot more comfortable for long stays on guard duty but also allows for being more personable which can help with keeping things calm rather than appearing to be faceless.
Now, if she was mounting up with a lance and going into combat, then she'd probably want something more - at the very least a visor she could flip down for protection against arrows and lances even if she might flip it back upwards later for the sake of getting air back into her body after exerting herself in the melee or if she needs to see clearly. After all, it wasn't uncommon for knights to lower the bevors of full plate armor with intricate helmets to try and breathe better for endurance even though it meant losing some of that protection.
Though the priorities seem to be different given the makeup she put on first, though then again lipstick is relatively tame as far as that goes, so... *shrugs* Either way, it's a fun little acknowledgement of the risk of open-faced helmets. If you're going to use them (besides not being able to afford better which is pretty clearly not the case here), use 'em for the right reasons.

Funny thing is that there's a lot of contemporary artwork of knights fighting with visors lifted and not wearing gauntlets. Some may have thought the offensive advantages of wider vision and greater dexterity outweighed the defensive risks.

Consider that the artist was payed to portrait the Lords in Battle and how would you do so if you couldn't see their faces?
And often these pictures are of sparring knights, perhabs exchanging tricks and pieces of valuable knowledge to stay alive on the battlfield.

Well, if you look at the artwork in question, it becomes apparent that those were some derpy-faced, ugly motherfuckers, and since no scarring would never make them any uglier, better vision was a no brainer
