What do you mean by exaggerated? BTW, I'm seriously asking, I really want to know why. I just remember that there was some kind of a storm going on, German tribes were really bad-ass on that day (multiple days I believe) and Romans were really unlucky.

Exaggerated because significance of Battle in Teutoburg is greatly overemphasized in modern popular memory and mainly in pop culture.This overemphasizing led to several popular myths connected with it, some of it completely untrue like:

-It was the biggest Roman defeat ever.
-Rome never lost so many legions before or after
-Romans never conquered Germania because of this defeat

-and even:"Battle that caused the fall of the Roman Empire"!!!

funnily that exaggerated stutus is mainly the work of much more recent history than of those ancient.The battle was massively worshiped and exagerrated in its importance at 19th century nationalistic movements at what is now modern state of Germany(distinguishion needs to be done between "Germans" when speaking about one speciffic group of people inhabiting modern state called "Germany" and between the Germanic tribes-a much wider ethnic group of people,like Celts or Slavs,who are the basis for several modern countries not just of those in the state now called as"Germany"."Germany"and "Germania" also did not mean quite the same thing.).These early modern attitudes towards this battle gave origin also to many modern tv documentaries who often uncritically accepts some of those above mentioned false myths(which can easily be revealed as myths) as a truth simply because it is a sexy story for them.
