Description
The Phaeston Assault Rifle from the third Mass Effect part is in my opinion one of the best looking weapons in the game. When i first play through the Phaeston was the constant companion of my Shepard.
At one point where I thought i build myself a N7 armor, of course i had to produce a corresponding armament.
The Phaeston is made of solid wood, just cut from an old cupboard door. I needed to build about 3 days, with the painting, it was about a 5 to 6 days.
Here on the pictures you can see the complete version with coloring and weathering. First I had tried the weapon painting gold / silver as it was to see the biggest part in the game, but that did not look really good. So I started to them merely to paint black and silver.

WOW! That is an amazing looking phaser rifle! It is so amazing looking. May I ask you this one question. With this phaser rifle fire a continuous beam, pulsating bolts, a single bolt, or an energy burst? The reason why ask this question is because it looks so rocking cool and it must pack a mighty punch. And I was thinking of the special effects for Star Trek phaser fire. I hope you can answer my question.

Its not a Phaser Rifle, its a Machine Gun from the Game Mass Effect 3. A gun from the Turian race. Its fire no energy burst but projectiles.
In Mass Effect, to generate ammunition a weapon shaves a projectile the size of a sand grain from a dense block of metal contained within the weapon's body. The projectile is launched at supersonic velocities by decreasing its mass in a mass effect field. Thousands of these tiny rounds can be produced from a single ammunition block.

That looks great but it seems like it is too large (correct me if I'm wrong). Where did you get the measurements?

It could well be that it is perhaps a little too big. Unfortunately, there are no reliable data on which one could estimate the size. I have used some screenshots from my FemShep (because I myself am not very tall (1.70 m)) to obtain approximate data size.
The big problem is that the size of the rifle varies itself in the game.

By solid wood, do you mean you didnt glue anything together, or you used solid oak/pine/poplar?

I mean hardwood. The Prop exist from three layer of 2 cm wood plates.
