I used your tutorial for this... Messed up halfway, and found a different effect (which I liked so I kept it, and just edited onto that)

Looks good! I would say work on your colors a little bit though. If you need help, I'll do my best to help you; I haven't used Gimp in a while though.

What do you work with now? Photoshop? And I do have one question about Gimp... What is the easiest way to create a render from a picture of a character? (Like changing the background to transparency) I've tried one tutorial, but it seems like the best thing right now is just going pixel by pixel after the majority of it is transparent. If you don't know a good way to do it then that's fine.

I don't do much sig work anymore, but I do use Photoshop for most of my work. As far as rendering images, I think the best way would be to outline what you want using the pen/path tool and getting it as close as you can. I made this quick tutorial a while back, it might help you a little bit with the path tool.

This is a really great tutorial, but I'm having a hard time looking for the spacing for the smudging....

I'm pretty sure the shortcut is Shift + Ctrl + B. You change it under the brush dialog, not the smudge tool dialog itself.

You haven't done one of these since NSider.
Whoah, that is seriously beast. Heh, I always wondered how it was done but this shows a lot of the background behind how they're typically made. A lotta complicated steps though, dang.
The final product came out great and the overall tutorial itself is laid out nicely. Keep it up dude.

Thanks a lot, but I did make several after the NSider era though

Ah, okay. Well I guess for me personally it's been awhile since seeing a tutorial from ya.
Anyways, no probs dude--you always know what you're doing.
