Description
This is the first in a series of pictures exploring human-looking robots built for companionship, amongst other things. They are designed to look and feel very human, but also include elements that plainly mark them as non-human in an attempt to avoid the uncanny valley (where a thing is so human that any slight 'imperfections' in that look make it repulsive).DAZ Studio 4.7 > Reality 4 > LuxRender.

Thank you very much. Yes, I use DAZ Studio and then render in Lux using Reality as a bridge. DAZ is free to download and there is plenty of free content to play with, if you ever fancy giving it a try.

I saw you were using DAZ, I was wondering if you modified the characters or created them using an external 3D modelling application like zBrush or something similar? Β I ask because I don't recognise the character in the image and thought it was a custom one.

Ah, yes. She is heavily customised, but I did it all in DAZ (although I did edit some of the skin textures in Paint Shop as well).
