Obviously, Riptide had to be fighting-type trainers... Obviously.

Bo and Em are really older-sibling-like in personality, so I thought it was fitting for them to train Pokemon that hadn’t evolved yet. Helping to raise younguns to reach their full potential. If you read the Pokedex entries for Tyrogue and Makuhita, you’ll see why I gave those two to them. I think it fits them perfectly, personality-wise.

Tyrogue: "Even though it is small, it can't be ignored because it will slug any handy target without warning. It is always bursting with energy. To make itself stronger, it keeps on fighting even if it loses."

Makuhita: "Makuhita has a tireless spirit - it will never give up hope. It eats a lot of food, gets plenty of sleep, and it trains very rigorously. By living that way, this Pokémon packs its body with energy. It grows stronger by enduring harsh training. It is a gutsy Pokémon that can withstand any attack."
