That's physically impossible for the little guy to say help, since the waves would dissipate into a incoherent echo!

what if he had a vey high pitched and loud voice? would the waves expand enough that by the time it got up it'd simply be a deeper voice?
or maybe the guy is hanging on the inside wall of the pit
or maybe the guy is actually falling up, as he fell through the hole at the other side of the world and he's been slingshotted upwards towards the other end.
or maybe it's a cartoon
