1. Newspaper Comics like Snoopy and Calvin and Hobbes.
2. Samurai Movies. Specifically Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, and Sanjuro by Akira Kurosawa
3. Faith Erin Hicks. She does great comics like Zombies Calling, The War at Elsmere, and Brain Camp. [link]
4. Zombies. Especially George Romero's early films.
5. Brian O'Malley. Of Scott Pilgrim fame. [link]
6. James Kochalka. Best journal comics ever. I did my own journal for about 5 years.
7. Food. I like it.
8. Hayao Miyazaki. Best movies ever.
9. Mike Mignola. I love his simple style and heavy blacks.
10. John Allison. Does a great comic called Bad Machinery. [link]
11. Girls in Underwear. They are great.
12. Scary Movies. They are scary.
