Description This is the second sculpting project I've done. I'm still buying different types of clay to play with, and this one is Plus Terra Cotta air-drying clay. By 'air-drying' this company actually means 'turns to rock in 3-5 minutes of exposure to air', so a lot more carving was needed for this than I had planned.

This bit is about 3 inches long, and was originally modeled from the head shape of our pet rat, with some extra bits added to convert from rat to tiny dragon. Like the last one, it's painted with acrylics (an old collection of Citadel colors, to be precise).

This is a great piece!

If you haven't tried Super Sculpey yet I can really recommend it!

Beautiful, skulls are so hard to make look right but you did a great job. One critique, an item or like reference point to understand the size of the item would be much appreciated.

Right you are. I should try to update this one sometime with a coin or something in the picture. The skull fell from it's shelf spot recently, so it requires some minor repair first.

Repairs are no fun. The media I work survives most things amazingly well (unless its has a black coat and there is any animal fur in the area then its a mess). Do you use any structural supports on pieces like that or is it solid?

It's a solid piece except for the horns, which are reinforced with 18ga steel wire.

You did an awesome job, I especially love how the paint gives it a textured, dirty look.
