I like the atmosphere of this photo very much. If feels so intimate and emotional.

I saw your post at the forum, so I'll critic this piece.
1st: of all be careful about your image quality, I can see lots of pixels in her hair and makes it look dirty and overall badly processed image, if your camera cannot produce big highly detailed pics leave them small, size doesn't mean much in photography, this seems like a very intimate portrait also (since only you know what she may be thinking or seeing or feeling), so small size does better in keeping the feeling.
2nd: I don't know if you have a sexy +27 inch 2300x1600px display and can easily see the full pic, but most of us don't have one (I own a 17inch 1280x1024px display and cant see it complete) so try to keep your pics with the largest size no more bigger than 900 or 800 pics, apreciating the entireness of a photo is important. Some extra information I can give you is that the optimal distance to watch a picture is at one and a half times the diagonal distance between two oposing corners, keep that in mind.
3rd: It's called black and white because... well, It has black and white, you have a nice pitch black and some good light grays but you're missing the white (there is only a small amount of pure white on a reflection in her eye). Play with the image brightness or levels and curves if you have photoshop to get these right, they give dept to your photo (since black things tend to feel on the background and white on the foreground)
4th and last!: If you don't like the pic DON'T UPLOAD IT, photography is about how you see the world and my opinion is that that is only what matters when you are sharing photos, the ones you select tell your vision and what you think, if you select something you don't like can get lost. Watch contact sheets from old renowned artists and you'll see they had many good pics but only showed the ones that they liked and fitted what they wanted to say (like Dianne Arbus who only showed the ones where people looked grotesque). Don't underestimate this and you'll have no problem when making a portfolio or a series.
I hope you find my critic usefull, but then again, you are free to do whatever you like with your photos since there are no rules, I just try to help with tips.
See you arround

It has a nice airbrushed feel to it . I really like the emotion that you're communicating. It's very easy to read into because so many elements are saying the same thing. It might be more powerful if, instead of looking up, you were looking down. Just something to think about
And one reason the thumb might not look so nice is all the black you have behind your head. Maybe try to crop the right side inward and see if that does anything. It's really a very lovely picture when it's view properly
It also would fit under People & Portraits > Emotive Portraits now. Not sure if that category existed when you first uploaded this

I look at this piece and I can feel a deep and raw emotion. There is a look in your eyes like you are trying to fade out the rest of the world. This is a wonderful piece and the details are wonderful. The lighing is perfect and the choice of black and white was ideal.

Thank you. For awhile, I actually hated it--but the more and more I look at it, the more I am quite pleased. Thank you.

Thank you. This piece is one that I really do not like out of all of them within my gallery. I don't know why, but I actually hate it. It is nice , however, to recieve such wonderful comments about something that I hated so much, it boosts my esteem on things, and makes me proud of something I once thought a disgrace.

I actually don't like this one. I think I look akward and very weird. I don't think I am going to keep it on, I'll probably put it in my scraps.

yes, I've been in a mood today. Is it noticable? I wanted to cry while taking these photographs.
