tinted with tears,

infused with carbon dioxide.

i am covered in scar tissue
and i don't remember how it got
there, only that it burns when i lay
in a snowbank and refuses
to stretch with the rest of me;

inelastic
as your eyes glazed over with

pastels swirling beneath the
surface of my dreams is a
world of forgotten kisses and late
night phone calls, a world where
my hand felt numb when it wasn't surrounded

and to forget it would destroy
