Description
Nile Crocodile - Crocodylus niloticusThis picture was a little harder to decide on than the others, i couldn't actually decide on a specific crocodilian to pick because i honestly love every single species, they are just such a unique species of reptile, with them being the only member of Reptilia alive today that can be classed as Archosaurs, the same group that holds Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs and Birds.
I have to respect the shear power these animals posses and their amazing ability to survive long periods of time without food, with some species like the Nile crocodile being able to wait a whole year before eating, as they wait for the wildebeest migrations and taking GREAT advantage of the event.
The word Suchus i commonly used at the end of the names of prehistoric crocodilians (and some dinosaurs) and means Crocodile,
The picture is mainly based on the Saltwater Crocodile because i wasn't actually aware that saltwater crocs and Nile crocs were different
so many people where i am swap them round so i thought they were the same... i am sorry for the mistake
either way i really hope i did a good enough job on drawing a crocodile, honestly i have only drew 1 crocodile before... it was alright
but this is the 1st ACTUAL attempt at on, so this was some decent practices for me and hot dam was it hard to do, i was aiming for extra detail on this one
i hope you all enjoy this picture as much as i do

Fantastic scale and armor work. I love how strong his jaws look. You should draw a bipedal croc monster. lol I've always loved crocodilians, but imagine seeing one near the size of an allosaur that walked on 2 legs. I think that's why I love spinosaurus and baryonyx so much, because they're crocodilian in form and nature. And I'm from Florida, so alligators are pretty cool. XD

thank you, this picture is where i tried my best to show the scales, it just adds a lot more than making it smooth like my work before it, super proud with how it came out
would be cool to try and draw a bipedal croc, seems like a great idea for a monster of some sort
spinosaurids do hit close to that mark, but i imagine things like Postasuchus hit it closer
i'm from England so sadly i don't have crocodilians here, but i do have Baryonyx here, so it sort of balances out

Are the baryonyx still alive? lol And yeah, kaprosuchus was also a neat one. It was a bit strange since its feet went down below it rather than to the side like most crocodilians. But yeah, a croc monster would be cool. That's kinda what Godzilla 2014 reminded me of; a big fat crocodile monster. lol

no i meant that baryonyx fossils are here in England
Kaprosuchus is a super cool one, i based my drake off it actually
i see what you mean, both are semi aquatic reptiles

I know, I was just messin around. lol That'd be pretty badass if you had baryonyx over there, though. XD

Thanks, I do put a lot of effort in. But most of the time it doesn’t look natural. And that’s what I don’t like about my art style, and love about yours.

try using skulls as a reference to get a prepare look of the head shapes of your dinosaurs
also i noticed a bit of a shrink wrapping thing with your dinosaurs faces, avoid that, it makes them look withered
hope this advice helped
