Description
Heart Hunters are odd undead creatures that stalk the night, searching for the one thing that gives them their namesake. It is unknown where Heart Hunters come from, or what their purpose even is. It is clear that they are made by some artificial means. Their bodies possess stitching, and their mechanical appendages are clearly crafted by outside sources. One of the strangest things about them is their lack of head. All Heart Hunters just have a bleeding stump, for what reason, no one knows. To go with this odd appearance is a fleshy "cloak" that is fused to their bodies. At first glance, this "cloak" may appear like a piece of clothing, but upon closer inspection, one can see its composed of veins and flesh. This "cloak" can be controlled like a second skin, allowing them to wrap around victims or seal themselves on command. In place of hands, they instead possess a sharp blade and some kind of razor claw mechanism. A Heart Hunter silently stalks its prey in the night, climbing on walls and ceilings with suction cup feet. When the time is right, it will throw itself on the victim and use its blade to cut them down. The claw hand is then used to carve through the rib cage and tear the heart free. The heart is then placed somewhere within the "cloak" and the Heart Hunter vanishes into the night. Nothing else is taken from the corpse, only its heart. Why they take the hearts, nobody knows. Some claim it is what they eat, as the cloaks digest the stolen organs. Others suggest they use them to reproduce, or maybe they just simply collect them. For whatever reason they do this, one should be wary of these creatures and be on the look out at all times.
Heart Hunters can be found anywhere, as long as there are those with a functioning heart in the area. Many hang around cities, using their small stature and cloaks to disguise themselves as homeless beggars. Heart Hunters rarely come together, preferring to be alone at all times. In the rare instances where they do meet, usually on territory dispute, they seem to communicate by making howling sounds through the open hole in their neck.

Went back to update an old monster I posted a long long time ago. They were called heart stealers at the time, but heart hunter sounds way better.
