Very nice work here. Can you describe your process a little? Thanks

Sure......The paper was first'scrubbed'with a rag soaked in oil-based colour until a nice, even tone was produced. As I was working on a set, this meant doing the exact same for several large sheets.
When those were dry,the block was placed on the paper (un-inked!),to help me gauge where the other coloured areas would go.These were printed on using inked-up pieces of ticket card rather than second blocks.
When that was dry,the inked up(black) block was printed over the top pulling the whole thing together.
Hope that helps!

The great thing is the versatility.Once you've done all that hard cutting, you can experiment with the block..different colour schemes, printing over different surfaces, over collage, etc.
You can end up with a dozen or more useable images that are all totally different just from 1 block......

yea, that too; i dont know why but i can always tell a wood block from other types of print (eg lino); its the way the ink sits in the paper or something, i just like it best
thanksfor sharing, and the comment

I noticed the collotypes and etchings in your gallery.(lovely!!),......why not have a go at a woodblock yourself?

Congrats on the DD!
traditional art should get more recognision rather than all anime influences and computer simulated art,
produced by Corel painter and such programs

One of the most innocent looking Little Red Riding Hoods I have ever seen. Great job on the color matching, too; the red and sepia compliment each other excellently.
Congrats on your DD, too :3

This is very beautiful, very much in the tredition of block printing with the color combination and style of the figure.

It's sooo nice to see traditional prints here on dA. They're so rare, and I don't think they get the appreciation they deserve.
This is beautiful by the way, it reminds me of the illustrative work I've seen in childrens books from the golden age of illustration.

Your very kind...those old book illustrations are my main influence.By the way, looking at your gallery,I think I recognise a kindred spirit,,,shades of Mucha and the old Italian Masters.....Excellent stuff!
