[Sorry for the poor writing, one day I will make it read better]

Jiemba Wiraduri realized she had been standing on the porch of her clinic for at least as long as it took for the sun to set. The last thing she remembered was watching her final patient walk away with a blanket, Z-pack, and beaming smile on his face. "It was a long day..." she mumbled to herself, remembering the numerous people that had walked miles to reach her clinic and wait patiently on her porch so early in the morning, "you always get this absent minded when you are tired." Jiemba knew that she could not go back inside. Not yet. She needed a break from this place.

And so the doctor began the trek to the outskirts of the village, just like she had done so many times before as a child when she needed a break from her mother... or when she needed to get her siblings away from a bad situation. The only difference now was that the villagers called out greetings to her as she passed by.

Jiemba inhaled the scent of grass and cool air, a nice reprieve from smelling vomit, sweat, or urine all day. But what Jiemba loved most was the sky--the dark vastness of it all. When she was a kid she discovered that if she lay on her back on a tall hill she could make herself feel like she was falling or flying into the dark Beyond. It didn't matter whether she was falling or flying, as long as she could trick herself for one moment into feeling like she was going far away from all the sadness. She'd imagine taking her brothers and sisters with her, too. And yet, when she actually did get to leave and settle into more comfortable places, she ended up coming back. "Life is funny that way..." she whispered.

The doctor found the perfect hill and lay on her back, taking in that familiar sensation of falling. She knew she'd regret this when she was washing the grass stains out of her scrubs later, but this was what she needed. She wondered if anyone else liked the feeling of falling. And then she focused in on the stars, winking down at her. It was so beautiful. Life was beautiful. She loved every part of hers, even the parts that may come stained with blood or diarrhea. Jiemba never, not even for a second, forgot how lucky she was to be taken in by such caring people...given the opportunity to be successful...the opportunity to pass on that same gift to her siblings...to pass it on to this village...

Jiemba's thoughts were interrupted by a blinking light in the corner of her eye. When she turned her head to get a full view of the subject, she had to sit up suddenly. It was coming right for her! But she did not feel the urge to move. She didn't feel afraid--just an unexpected mix of anger and foreboding--as she watched the glowing object descend.

Then she appeared. It was the same woman she had dreamed of as a child--the woman who would try to talk to her or approach her in her dreams. Jiemba did not like her; she would always run away. The woman would beg her to stay, but Jiemba would yell at her to leave her alone. Jiemba wanted to yell into the night right now, but she was frozen. This kind of paralysis was the kind one is afflicted with when there is too much too feel, too much to say, and all of the feelings and words are fighting to be released but they get jammed because it is too much.

The dark woman glowed vibrantly in her blue dress and jewelry. She floated above Jiemba, her clothing and long black hair flowing with the gentle wind.  "Zibanu..." her soft, sweet voice called out.

"Don't!" Jiemba shouted, startling herself. She didn't know why she said that. She just knew this lady made her uncomfortable.

The Lady's eyes drooped with sadness. "Jiemba," she said this time, as gentle as a breeze, "I can not allow you to hide from yourself any longer. The future of the cosmos needs you to face your destiny."

The Lady produced from her hands a round, golden piece of Jewelry and released it into the air. It slowly descended toward Jiemba, who watched it softly land at her knees with increasing anxiety. She felt something wet and cool on her cheeks, then realized she was crying. Her throat felt tight.

"Don't..." she whispered, involuntarily, beginning to shake with sobs, her confusion escalating the emotions. She felt like a child again, against forces beyond her control. What about her life that she had now? Did that not matter anymore? Then, as The Lady started explaining this "destiny", Jiemba simply went numb.

I think your writing is wonderful! You really show how kind Jiemba is, and how confusing and scary destiny and being a senshi can be.

I really enjoy Jiemba's story, and her hesitance towards taking up the role of being a magical girl (woman). It's great to see this resistance and fear of what's ahead of her, it's a real breath of fresh air to read.

It means a lot to me to hear that because I rushed through the story so I could upload the art and I'm still not satisfied with the writing. Thank you for your feedback!
