Description
Story:Jiemba felt a little sick as she walked down the halls of the Star Lit Palace museum. It reminded her of getting lost in catacombs during one of her seasonal vacations with her parents. She took a moment to view each constellation she passed and study their memorabilia. But when Jiemba finally saw the symbol for her scales, she did not want to look up. She stared at the scale constellation for some time, though not knowing why.
When Jiemba eventually lifted her gaze, she saw the face of the original creature that carried her soul. His eyes sent a shockwave of nausea into the pit of her stomach as flashes of memories entered her consciousness. It was then that Libra realized the reason she had waited this long to visit the museum, and why she had not wanted to look: the pain and heartache of this past life was something her soul never wanted to remember.
BACKGROUND:
Civilian Name: Reif Inu (pronounced “Rye-F Ee-noo”)
Age: (in earth years) 38
Personality: Gentle and quiet outside of battle: calm and thoughtful disposition. In battle he becomes hot-headed and ruthless: quick to pass judgement. Kind and loving to those who have earned his trust and respect, cold and calculating towards those that wear two faces. His only real strength is the ability to lead.
Quick summary: Reif was the product of a union between the Sun People and the Star People on Planet Libra. These unions were very uncommon, and the offspring were usually treated as lesser individuals by both cultures. But Reif had special abilities that helped him earn the respect of both worlds, overcome prejudice, and distinguish himself as a leader. His entire youth was spent on resolving the civil war of Libra and unifying the planet (which ultimately led to becoming King of his kind). However, the racist mindsets of both people's could not possibly change overnight and was a constant source of strife among the lands.
Reif married a royal woman of the Star people and adopted a son of the Sun people for his heir. This was a political move to help integrate the two cultures and demonstrate impartiality, however naive it may have been. He had many children of his own blood through his queen. When he was summoned to aid the Lady, his eldest son and adopted son were grown men. While he was absent fighting for the Lady the Planet Libra once again fell into a state of civil war, as the eldest of Reif's sons challenged the right of the adopted son to inherit the throne. This bloody civil war ended in the deaths of Reif's entire family, adopted son included, and the secession of all people from the union that Reif had established. Reif's life work--his one and only dream--and the ones he loved were destroyed. Reif would never learn about this.
Nevertheless, when the Lady's war finally ended, Reif was left with a sense of emptiness. His life's work was establishing peace and harmony among the people of Libra, and yet he would never be able to go back to his home planet. His only dream would remain unfulfilled, incomplete. He would never hold his wife or see his sons again, or know if the people of Libra could bury the hatchet. Reif fell into deep depression and grief. This is why he cast away his brooch in anger and settled into earth.
Ability Powers:
Offensive – Solar Scales: requires the sun to reflect off of his weapon. Solar flares shoot from the blades and can be swung at the enemy.
Defensive – Celestial Grave: complete blackness pours from the blades and momentarily envelops one area. This leaves all enemies in the area unable to even see their hands in front of their faces. Allies in the area see everything illuminated by starlight.
Innate – Keen Sense of Balance: If you want to defeat Libra, knocking him off his feet is a fool’s errand. He will always find a way to right himself, partly due to his specie’s special sensitivity towards magnetism. He only falls if he is extremely weakened.
Weapon – Curved blades hang from chains on each side of his arm. The chains can be lengthened or shortened for convenience in battle. He dual-wields the blades for full attack power.
