~When I draw, I stay away from ink. Ink, permanent ink, blackredgoldblue ink, it doesn't matter. Ink leave scars. Marks. Flaws. The slightest tremble - and you get a little line you don't like, a curve that's too curved, crooked, and it's impossible to get rid of, burnt into my eyes, scratched deep into paper, sunken into memory. A mistake. Your masterpiece, and it's ruined. Can't fix it, can't go back, can't regret - it's permanent. Ink, you just can't get rid of it.
These scars, these mistakes, are nothing to brag about.
You scribble in the wrong direction, and you're done for.
The way it sticks, ink - clinging to my fingers, deepest black, like blood; blood and nightmares, thick inside fountain pen. And I'm drowning, drowning drowning drowning, can't get rid of it, scars and ruined paper, the nice paper you use for showcases, portfolios. No matter how much soap I use. No matter how much I lie to myself.
This is nothing to brag about.
And when I close my eyes, everything is black - blacker than the darkest night, blacker than the deepest crevice. You can't see anything, that far down, so it's just pitch black, and your mind begins to imagine what it can't make out. What we don't understand, we fear.
What does this look like to you?
A blob of ink on a piece of paper.
It looks like...
I close my eyes, and I see a raven, its eyes wide and silver, and it's so stunningly beautiful, I want it to be permanent, I want it to stay, and I don't care, don't care don't care.
"Do you watch over me?" I want to ask, but the ink, it's drowning me, I can't breathe, can't breathe, can't see, but my mind is working, my imagination, posessing.
It flaps its wings, and ink drips, drip drip drips like the liquid of an IV, onto the black, black floor.
When I wake up, I immediately make for my desk, I flip to a clean page. And it's the nice paper you use for showcases, portfolios, crisp and perfect. And when I pick up my pen, I destroy it with my favorite scars, my favorite memories. I make it beautiful. I make it real.
Scratched deep into paper.
Can't go back. Can't erase.
No regrets.
These are the types of scars I brag about, because these are the types of memories I never, ever want to forget.

Oh god this is just..... amazing. You can feel emotion coming from this. And I love how.... flat? she looks. Like, not flat as in the shading and such, but more like she's flat because she's pressed against the ground. And the only color being her eye is gorgeous.

I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD NOTICE. xD I like to include these - little details, little metaphors, into my art. Like, I felt compressed to the ground, I felt trapped, and that was how I incorporated my feelings into the drawing. Notice, the face on this picture and on 'Fallen' is almost exactly the same, with the right eye closed and left eye open. It represents the way I look at things, stubborn - I have a one-track mind sometimes. I don't see through the 'other eye'. If that makes sense. Metaphor, metaphors. xD

You know what I think?
I think this is beautiful. It reminds me of something I attempted to do way back in my niner year, for my own art class. I'm clumsy, so I always disliked the ink. It would somehow end up everywhere. But then I realized, that really, it's those black-and-white pictures that have the most emotion in them, almost like a stage. The actors are dressed in black, for the simple reason that it's the performance that makes the piece, not the costumes, colours, set.
Just like in art. It's those simple ones that always make you catch your breath, look at it and go, "Wow, this says so much."
Beautiful job. I really feel this speaks your mind at that moment in time when you drew it. Amazing.
