Steve Irwin died recently due to a stingray barb to the heart. My condolances and sympathy to his family, Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Hunter) was a big part of my childhood. He played a major part in my understanding of all wild animals and taught that, despite their ferocity and aggressive natures, crocodiles, snakes, and 'unsavory' critters of all kinds are interesting and important to their environment.Whether you enjoyed his programming or not, however critical you are of the Crocodile Hunter, you must admit his family (Terri, Bindi, and Bob Irwin) don't deserve this. This is my homage to that man with his favorite animal, a crocodile, consoling his little girl, Bindi.

I must say I'm impressed by the amount of comments this has received. I'd like to say that, yes, I am seriously considering sending this to the Irwin family with a note telling them how many conservation enthusiasts respected and looked up to this man. Thank you everyone, I may quote some of you in my email to them to show how sympathetic the global animal lover community is.

Aw....this is a beautiful, no- Wonderful way to honor Steve Irwin. Man, I loved that man, and he always had a smile on his face, and knew how to make people laugh, while teaching them about Wildlife.

I remember not being able to believe he was really gone..he was such a huge part of my childhood, and I looked forward to watching his show every single day. It was like I lost a little bit of myself when he passed.
But it lets me smile knowing this; he died by an animals doing--I'm sure he would have wanted it that way, if he was to die from unnatural causes, you know? I miss him.

He inspired me and my sister to love animals no matter their looks or natural behavior.

When I first heard the news, I thought it was a joke at first. Steve Irwin, dead? He was indestructable! When I realized it was true, however, a large part of my heart seemed to go missing- he was my hero for many many years. For a lonly girl who loved animals, he was the guy to watch and learn. It's been a long time since i thought about it, but seeing this again makes me appriciate just how much he meant in my life, and in others- and just how much smaller our world is for his loss.

When I heard this on the news, I broke down and cried full heartedly. He was the sole person who inspired me, as a child, that I want to work with animals and help conserve animal habitat. This man was my idol. I even would dream of meeting this man and thank him for everything he has done, often. When his show airs on animal planet I cry every time, even three years later. He was my inspiration, and I'm sure to many other people.
Steve Irwin, you will always be remembered, and I hope he knows that he had a special part of our hearts that can never be filled by anyone else.

Whenever I see something concerning Steve's death, I have to comment. I loved his show so much and like you, I learned a lot about animals from him. At first, when I heard he died, I didn't believe it. I thought, "He can't die!" I had a childhood dream to go to the Australia Zoo to meet him and thank him for his show. Then he died, and I mourned over his death. He was such an intelligent man and I hope his family is well.

He was the guy that made me not afraid to approach wild animals, but not be incredible iggnorent. He was the guy who amazed me so much.... he was one of the greatest men to ever live, I swear.... I miss him so much...

when Steve Iriwn died i was really devastated. He was sort of an idol to me, i have always dreamed of being some sort of a zoologist or biologist and his shows had always helped me to understand animals. I think he would have really liked this picture and I think you should send it to his family if you haven't already done so.

I think this is really wonderful! I use to watch his shows every friday night at 9pm, I loved them. When I was watching the ceremony on TV, I started crying. He will be dearly missed and may he rest in peace.

It's beautiful...what makes me mad is my grandma said that he should have been smart and it's his fault he's dead. That made me so mad, he died doing what he loved. It's what was important to him.

Steve Irwin was a really great guy i looked up to him and still do to this day
He taught a lot of ignorant people about animals and a lot of people who were willing to learn. I watched Animal planet all the time for the crocodile diaries, crocodile hunter, and the other shows.
This art is a really nice tribute to Steve Irwin especially since his daughter wanted to continue his footsteps. I really like that the Crocodile is next to his daughter showing how close they are friends, or even considered family

Steve Irwin wasn't just some guy to me he was my hero and i looked up to him when ever i watched his program i thiught to myself i want to be just like him and how you did this you should send it to the Irwin family and show them how many people loved he as well as looked up to him
