Dude. Do you like VK at all? (It stands for Visual Kei, if you don't know what that is then never mind).
Well the first time I see this ... I don't much like the text there. I like the way it's been shot from a lower angle, gives him a very imposing air, and makes him look even taller (those boots do a lot to help as well. Speaking of which, I want his boots). The hair is really suited to this style, I like the blank background as well because you have so much going on with the main focus, bg would detract. Good work there ... what else ... well it's pretty awesome overall, the actual photo itself is awesome.

I sent a big reply to this, but I don't think it went through... Anyway, I like VK..but only when it has a LOT of work into it. Half ass VK is no good. When shawn did photoshoots, he went all out VK and it usually looked pretty good. Thank you very much for the comment about the technical aspects of the photo; and as for the text it was just a fuck around kind of thing.

Haha half ass VK .. dude there's too much of it around, really, and lately it isn't even real VK just some shit that some guy slaps a label on and says "Hey, this is VK!" I liked the old Dir en grey and I kinda liked Fatima ... do you have any particular inspiration?

wow interesting...my first instinct was that the feet should have been on the shot fully...but i loved reading your response to someone above about the reason for it...makes complete sense really really like it. love the different textures in his clothes and the contrast between them...the pose is very confident, which works nicely. but i dont really like the writing all that much...its kinda clever and interesting...but i think that the negative space there would have looked nicer...its a lil bit distracting maybe. completly gorgeous anyhoo

Thanks! But what did you think of it Before you read my comments to protazerg? I want to know what people think the second they see it, because even if they don't know why something is the way it is, I've still got to shoot to appease the eye of the mass, not my own.

ahh, hmm, one, at first i did not think its a guy, but either male or female, its a sexy pose, and the model is pretty sweet. yeah, it really is a great pose, and the foot in the frame, it makes it look like he is "Stepping out". and also with the outfit, its very well done, accessories indeed.
overall i like it very much, from the first look.

is there a way you can get the feet from being croped like that? or is that how the photo was?and then maybe rotate him so his feet are level giving hime more of an arch in his back? but I like the text, and the concept. Ver well done.

Factor---Stock In reply to Protazerg [2005-03-15 12:44:07 +0000 UTC]
No, the actual photo is like that... I like it better like this because when you look at it, your mind is trying to complete the shoe(s) outside of the photo, and thus you look at it longer. It also allows an entry point into the photograph for your eyes so that they may move around a bit longer. The best photos for magazines or anything like them all implore this concept. Most often, it is with the head of the person though... Whatever the case, I couldn't crop it any differently, I was trying to shoot it with his feet slightly cut, so the raw photo is like that. As to how he looks, this was because of the odd angle at which he was standing, the angle at which the photo was shot, and the focal length at which I shot it. Your right in that there should be more of an arch to this back, but rotating the photograph would not achieve this (and besides, it really throws off the perspective and looks very weird). The text took some time, mostly because I was screwing around with some new ideas for blending and the concept...well.. What concept? It's just a glamour shot!
hehehe.. all aside, thank you very much for the critique, I can see where your coming from on most parts.

Okay...lol....I shall not question anything about the all powerful Factor anymore unless he asks to be questioned. He is a very smart photographer, and should be president of the United States. All hail Factor---!

nonono, I'm not the all powerful or anything... I just wanted it to be what you didn't.. hehe, don't back down in your opinions, if you think it's not a good picture, than it isn't to you. I was just telling you the reason it is what it is.

I was just typing some crap in. because now I know that pretty much every thing you do is on purpose, and that it was meant to be that way, and you always have a reason for it. so, ya. I was not mad or anything. lol. I donβt think there is even one time you did not have a reason for something, and actually fixed what I suggested, because after explaining your self I agreed with you.

Factor--- In reply to Protazerg [2005-03-16 10:42:03 +0000 UTC]
nono, There have been times where you have made very great and true critique on my stuff.. I just didn't agree with you on a few of them this time. I do agree that his back needs to have more of an arch though, I'll reshoot it pretty soon when I get the set up again. Please keep just keep putting down anything that comes to mind, and I'll agree with you or disagree with you.. but none the less, you are usually helping me. Now when I shoot again, I'll be looking for that arch... see? You've already helped a ton!

Protazerg In reply to Factor--- [2005-03-16 11:30:41 +0000 UTC]
A ton is a lot, so...think of that when you have Shawn pose again. You dont want him to hurt his back do you?

That is for me to decide, and Kaiser Permanente to pay medical bills for.

Protazerg In reply to Factor--- [2005-03-16 12:09:04 +0000 UTC]
well, Shawn can arch his back pretty damn low anyway. I have seen him pretty much go to the floor at club. I think you will be okay.

i see why you did it this way for an art shot, but when people use stock they often need the complete figure to conform to their own vision.
