Description
Okay, typically, I'm pretty sane and reasonable when it comes to getting my shots and angles, but this was a risk I probably didn't need to take. This is the elevated Main #3 of the three-main lead-in to the west yard throat of Argentine on the Emporia sub at CP Holliday, and while this is a killer shot, I'm sure I pissed off the engineer trying to get it, having climbed up the side of the grade to position myself, only to see him swinging his arm at me as they approached.Needless to say, I bailed after getting this. Luckily, I didn't have BNSF RRPD on my ass afterward (mainly because I left the area ).
This inbound mixed manifest roars down Main 3 of the Emporia Sub towards Argentine Yard, BNSF ES44AC #7636 on the point with a NS catfish just behind it.

I'm also assuming that the horn was blaring multiple times when they saw you. Did you use one of BNSF's access roads to get their or did you hump on foot? Definitely not place where the public can get to.

Oh yeah, he was pissed for sure. Actually, where I was shooting was just up the side of the elevated grade from the public road just below it (I was maybe 12 feet up?). I parked in a private driveway about 20 yards away, and just walked right up to this point. The other two mains are at grade-level below, and you can walk right up to this.

yeah, I have heard some stories of the bnsf police here in kc. Mainly when you trespass ever so slightly or get to close for comfort and they fine you out the butt.

Honestly, I've only encountered a BNSF cop once, and that was down at Santa Fe Junction when UP 844 was rolling through and there were foamers everywhere. But he was just out for a look himself. Otherwise, I've been a few places that would probably get me a talking to (or even a ticket) in the past, but rarely have I even seen railroad cops outside of KCK.

Yeah, I typically don't do anything after 5, since having a kid and a lot of crap to do after work prevents that. But I'm usually on public roads anyway (55th, 42nd, Goddard Viaduct, etc.) so it's not a big deal to them I suppose. West of the yard throat, I do venture a little bit down the access roads by the mains near 76th and 74th.

KCK, especially around the yard at Argentine around 5 pm. or later, you will see the RR cops. Usually with me it's random workers (once I had a crew-caller drop by and had a nice chat about the area) that make sure your alright and remind you to be safe and stay off the property.
