Description
This quick "foam session" was a nice change of scenery. First time I'd railfanned in and Emporia, KS on the BNSF Emporia sub. Some people refer to BNSF's first run of new C44-9Ws after the merger as "Fakebonnets" since they have the old ATSF warbonnet livery with BNSF lettering. Here, one of those (#4701) and a KCS ES44AC pull an autoracks consist west out of the yard throat from Emporia, KS. Note the color distortion of the signals from the exhaust plumes.

these guys, CSX and Union Pacific need to jump on the Heritage Unit train like Norfolk Southern did, it'll work wonderfully for themΒ

Well since all the other roads like too repaint the old units into the current scheme, BNSF prefers too just leave old units in the old scheme most of the time. I think that is the closest they come to having heritage units.

UP has had Heritage units since before NS came out with theirs, though not nearly as prolific as NS was. UP has had Heritage units for C&NW, SP, CRI&P, D&RGW, MoPac, and one or two others I believe.
