Description
I suppose you could say they're playing the part well. Here, ATSF FP45 #93 and ATSF Baldwin 4-8-4 #3768 sit on display at the Great Plains Transportation Museum in Wichita, KS over Douglass Avenue (which runs underneath). Behind them in the left background, the jointly-owned Central Rail Corridor runs BNSF and UP traffic on modern-day double-track.
Selective color for emphasis and some artistic "effect".

Nice use of lighting. The details that show some weathering and rust are outstanding. The use of two subjects framed between the buildings as well as the angles, full face on and 3/4 view of the locomotives gives this some nice tension. If only the picnic tables were someplace else, this would look like a living railyard rather than a museum. Nice work!

Oh, tell me about it on the picnic tables. I actually had to shoot this through a chain-link fence with my wide-angle, and even then I was risking some form of trespassing (I haven't done it since, though). There is more stuff behind them, but mostly rolling stock. They're rumored to be acquiring an old ATSF E or F unit, but nothing concrete yet.
I have been back to look, and they're not in as good of shape as they were that day, but they're still there.
