Description This is my
"Entry for 's 7 Deadly Sins Contest

My code was c1, so Light and Pride (my favourite sin). I think this is a good combination, because Light is a pride himself.

The picture was an experiment, because this concept and composition is unusual for me. And I have drawn the most of characters for the first time.

Any mistakes? Tell my and I will try to fix it.

(I'm leaving for my last trip to Greece and Turkey, so bye for a while )

Sorry, don't plan to draw L in the near future.

Yes, I was planning to go there (for one month, practical training), but there were some political events/demonstrations in the area and they warned not to go there, so I canceled it. But I hope I will have opportunity to go there again, there are many things I wanna see.

I know that your political situation wasn't good (and isn't good) and I personally agreed with demonstrators.
Todays problems are more dangerous, but I hope it will be safe again in future (but honestly I can't imagine how can be happen in next years).

Thank you for your words

It's definitely excellent and you did a superb job, however, just a small thing I noticed, didn't Mello have a burn mark on his face?  To be honest, I haven't seen the anime in such a long time and I never read the manga, but I know at one point Mello had a burn mark on his face.  I don't know if he had that from the time of his introduction or not, though.  Other than that, were you looking for a specific message to be conveyed through the positioning of the characters?  Because Light is definitely the focus, and so it's easy to pick out he is supposed to be 'pride', and I definitely see the symbolism with the apple (which is a nice touch, btw).  As for the other characters, I was curious about why you chose to have Mello, Near, and L the way they are (mainly Mello, because I'm thinking maybe Near is in the far back and center because he is the successor of L, and L is next to Light because he used to be Light's main adversary, but then..  is Mello just there?  I like him there, don't get me wrong, but I get the distinct feeling that he just fills in the blank space and doesn't offer as much symbolism as the rest concerning placement.  But then again, without him, it would be kinda incomplete since he is just as important to the story as Near and L are concerning bringing down Light).

I also wanted to note that I love how you kept it in black and white, and yet have the subtle coloring in the background (and it's a lovely pattern and crimson!).  The details of their faces are excellent, and for the first time drawing them, you did a wonderful job.

Good question. Yes, he has the burn marks on face, neck and trunk from the explosion which took place in the 3/4 of the series. So, you can see him in the manga/anime as a child in Wammy's house with Near, after that with the mafia (without the burn marks too) and then after the explosion with the burn marks till the end. So, this is artist's choice. I have chosen no marks, because I wasn't sure, if it is good idea in black and white picture. But you have right, that the most of pictures of Mello include the marks - it is typical for the character.

About the  positioning of the characters - you are right about Light. I wanted him as the main character of the picture and his "opponents" much more smaller. I tried to drawn proud look and pose for him. Then I wanted to draw L bigger than N and M (just because he is the main opponent in the half of the series) and from the profile and looking down (so, I wasn't successful, he looks proud too).    About the positioning of M and N... sorry, there is no symbolism although there should be (I know). The picture is divided by L and Light info four spaces - two corners are too small - so useless for drawing characters. So, there are two spaces left...one for portrait and one for half-waist character. And I wanted to draw Near with some toys, so I have chosen this composition. All three Kira's opponents must be there...unfortunately I was limited by space nad lack of time. If I gave more time and sketches to the picture, it would be better. So, it is my fault at the end.

Thank you for commenting my works. I really appreciate, when people think about what they see and asking why artist did that thing and another one. It is great feedback for the artist.

Aww, well, in that case, I'm glad you liked my feedback and questions, and I enjoy your art and saw a lot of symbolism in this piece and couldn't help but comment.  ^_^  Also, to be honest, I enjoy seeing Mellow without the burn marks for a change, and I can imagine it being a quite a challenge with a black and white pic.  Also, perhaps since Near becomes the successor for L, maybe that could be his symbolism for being at the top?  Also, his toy 'buildings' can show a possible symbolism for a control over the police/city since he is the 'new L'.  Hmm... as for Mellow, perhaps since he sacrifices himself in the end (at least, from what I remember.  I believe he ends up dieing after his character redeems himself, right?), he is placed in the bottom left.  The fact he's depicted without his burn mark could symbolize a younger him, perhaps?  Or maybe his inner good?  Meh.  Running out of ideas  Lol  But anyways, I forgot last time to comment on the skulls.  I like that little detail.  Definitely foreboding XDD  And those chains on Light are perfect in symbolizing how he has become bound to his fate (since he can no longer go to heaven or hell).

And also, you're welcome  ^_^

Thank you for the great ideas, now I can pretend, it was my intention all the time.

[You remind me one of my friend, who studies art history, and every time she sees some picture, she describe why artist has drawn everything in the picture. She always gives me so many explanations. Don't you study something like that too? ]

Lol  X'D You're welcome  (also, nope!  I've never taken art history.  Well, I took a few art classes back in high school, but I didn't pay attention much to the history aspect XDDD)
