He's hard! Are you going for the animation style or the book style?
Either way, start with basic shapes; a big sphere for the head, a little one for the nose, etc. That's what I always do when I get stuck.

I've got a friend who's the same way. I get too frustrated sometimes not to do the sketchy stuff, lol.

My problem is that I'm quite the perfectionist some (read: most) of the time. I can never get it the way it looks and then I throw a fit and get sulky, and it generally ends bad. It's much better for all involved this way, lol.
