Description

2020 JULY 11 EDIT — The Chassis entry was filled with "lorem ipsum" in the flavor text. This was fixed. If you downloaded it before, be sure to replace your previous file.

A VTOL-LAM (Land Air Mech) for Battletech that won't follow too many established rules. Considering all the rules for building are scattered all over the place, this took a little time to cobble together while working on the job. Personally, I really like the conventional vehicles in Battletech, I just get the feeling they are often misused in the terrain against Battlemechs. Sure, mechs are "cool" but if you have enough firepower, you won't need to be worried about a bipedal clanking monstrosity (unless the monstrosity is moving well over 40 MPH & jumping over ravines, trenches and other terrain).

Realistically, people forget that if one soldier has twice as many weapons as the enemy combatant he is facing, the total effective firepower of the first soldier is not double, but rather √2 (the square root of two) since one solid hit on either man will kill him. The older BT rules try to glorify mech combat (after all, that's the power fantasy), but remember the LRMs (long range missiles) whether they are Clan-tech or not, top out at 630 meters. A United States' MLRS fires munitions up to 12 KM away (that's 12,000 meters) and we already have MLRS units - but no Battlemechs.

The Foxfire VTOL-LAM was done much like the QSR-1V (Quasar) in this gallery - everything had to transform, because why the heck not. A flight of these would be devastating just with their Clantech Extended Range Large Lasers microwaving pesky anti-Clan protesters or other undesired elements of society. Changing the loadout slightly and turning it into a Battlemech would definitely wow first-time observers, but the firepower is supremely lacking in a one-on-one situation.
