The possessed rat-man abruptly left the capture and conversion of new acquisitions completely to his minions and turned his own attention fully on the writings of Anjerome Villios, from whom he had taken much of his own identity and name. While the gremlins possessed by Demon fragments took to the task with a Jervil-like fervor, the jackrats and runemotes behaved more naturally in the Undercellar. As Jervil concentrated on the tasks of Anjerome's final years, the small, humanoid creatures began making their own changes to the underground environment to fashion it more to their liking, connecting sections worked with dressed stone by hard-bored tunnels and digging out humiliatingly small dens in the wall to serve as holding pens for their captives. What little attention Jervil paid to their efforts was to fashion tools for their use and properly finish up the holding pens as cages. Then he left the gremlins to their devices.

For anyone concerned, this rather lengthy addition into the Bookbinding chapter has been carefully considered (yes, really). Publication length in paperback has always been an issue for these chapters, and when an average "proper" length was determined, a juggling and reorganizing of pages from Bare Necessities to Bookbinding took place. The changes won't be reflected here on DA until the publications are coming out for each chapter. Suffice to say that the 190-page monstrosity of a chapter that Bookbinding appears to be here on DA will actually be reduced back down to a more manageable 115-120 pages when it's all said and done. I've got a slew of awesome Elina pages burning a hole in my mind thanks to Feathered-pics ' wonderful reference material, and I have about 25 pounds of drawing boards currently encumbered with those half-finished images, too. It's all slowed down as I work on getting Rats ready for publication, but that's nearing completion and then we should get this thing done.

This page actually came to mind as an insert into the next one, so I drew it full size after what is now Page134 was done up to the digital stage. You can read all about it in the posts made by collared-by-faile in these links:
