Leaving the candle on the floor, the Scholar prepares her sorcery and rises up, expecting to magically deal with another walking corpse homing in on her and hoping it is only one. Instead, darkness and the sound of flailing, knotting rope abruptly surround her, and she finds herself engulfed by a monolith of nightmare that dashes all thought of sorcery from her mind and steals her breath away. The multitude of sorcerous currents streaming through every fiber of the massive terror are more a blinding tidal wave of magical energy bent before a horrible will seemingly concentrated within a single, glowing orb that is fixed on Elina like a nail of ice driven into her chest. Time stumbles and falls completely to a halt, and the Scholar tastes bitter bile in her open, speechless mouth.

Wow ... BIG hands. The most effective part, though, is the realization that the aforementioned big hand has already wrapped around BEHIND our scholar. Uh oh. The big guy is looking particularly menacing in this one, and perhaps the scariest thing about him is the apparent speed with which he covered that ground between here and the previous image. I'm suddenly thinking this guy could have a future as a middle linebacker but perhaps this will prove to be a more rewarding line of work.
Of course, the BEST part of this is that I actually have no flipping idea what's going to happen next. But I'm willing to find out.

And just like that, all the reasons she had for sticking around in the undercellar of doom don't seem to make as much sense as they did 2 minutes ago. On the plus side, this means she gets a chance to observe "The Binding" up close, although she may not be as enthused by that as others.
The Hellbinder is big and fast, He definitely could get a grasp on just about any situation.

well thats a pleasant image to find in ones message first thing in the morning. this is probably on of the most effective pieces in this chapter, as it gives the reader a sense of scale of just how BIG this hellbinder fella is

Up 'til now, the sound of creaking rope always had pleasant associations for me: sinking into a hammock on a hot day, listening to the rigging work on a sailboat.....now..... oh, hell, who am I trying to fool, this is just as agreeable! Very nicely done, although the relative size of his hand kinda surprises me. Is he really that big?
