Somehow, Elina's speechless stumbling has placed her back against the hard wall as the massive figure looms over her, its arms forming a barricade of terrifying power at her sides. Like rivulets of muddy water, thick cords flow down below the creature to fumble at her sandaled feet, wrapping clumsily about her ankles and climbing upward within her dress. "F-from all fear and d-... darkness," she breathes, the Scholarly mantra triggered by her shock itself before being lost in breathlessness, leaving her lips to mouth the remaining few words.

"...the rays of knowledge shall follow rain and cast back cloud," the horror speaks through a mouth of brilliant energy behind a portcullis of vicious teeth. But the words ring in a familiar tone, a voice the Scholar recognizes with a jarring shudder.

"Un... Uncle Anjer?" Her voice is a whisper. As the ropes coil upward, the Scholar stands petrified.
