“This will be easy”, they said. “All you have to do is look out for it”, they said.

Huffing angrily Spirit looked around, once again. And once again all he saw is a forest with its trees coming back to life, first leaves already sprouting from the once bare branches. Further away he could see more light shining through bushes, the edge of the woods he currently walked through. Jynx and Impy, both sitting on his back lounging lazily while he carried them, enjoyed the warm sunlight after weeks of cold and harsh weather.
Sighing the Equus continued his way when suddenly, he heard some noises coming from somewhere further ahead.

Strix wandered through a forest at the edge of his territories. After the long and cold winter spring had finally come and with it the warmth. The leaves on the trees were only growing and still let enough sunlight through to warm the still thick, white fur of the worg. Strix wasn’t hungry and had decided to go and explore a bit, after the snow had finally melted. Suddenly, the worg noticed the scent of an equus. The predator was uncertain for a moment, deciding whether to leave the trail alone or follow it, until he decided that he may as well check up on it.

Val walked at the edge of the same forest, mindfully to not crush any flowers under her hooves. The megaloceros liked them and found it was a waste of all the colors to just trample them. After some time, Val discovered a small path into the forest. Curious the doe followed it.

Following the noise the ochre colored Equus soon faced a doe. Her hindquarters, ears and lower front legs were darker while her belly, chest, upper front legs and face were lighter colored. She also had a brown snout and it looked like she had a stripe running around her head which made her look quite interesting if Spirit may say so.
“Hi!”, he smiled at her while Jynx chirped from her place on his back and Impy waved one of his moss arms to greet the doe.
“Wandering around all alone?”, Spirit asked her, looking around to see if there was someone else.

It didn’t take long for Val to meet another creature. It was an equus with a orange-brown coat and what looked like little blue pawprints? Additionally the stallion carried a small gray feline and a moving clump of moss.
Val starred at the beast for a moment, before remembering her manners.
“Hi”, she greeted back. “Yes, I’m alone. I don’t need protection, I’m able to defend myself. But honestly, I could ask you the same question.” Suddenly, Vals ears perked up and she looked behind the equus. A worg steeped out of the undergrowth. The doe made a warning sound.
The white and gray beast seemed calm and not inclined to hunt, but Val didn’t trust that.

Hearing the warning from the doe Spirit was confused at first. “Wha-”, he started but was interrupted by Jynx’ hiss and the feeling of claws on his back as his small companion cat unsheathed them in her attempt to look threatening.
Turning around he saw the reason for the commotion. Standing in front of him was a Worg. His fur had all colors of grey and white and right now the canine was coming towards them.
Normally Spirits first reaction would have been either to run, or kick if a carnivore comes at him. However, the Worg walked in a relaxed way, no intention of attacking visible in any way.
Watching the Worg carefully Spirit started some small talk, hoping to find out more about their new guest: “So, who are you now?”

When Strix walked out of the bushes, he kept his body relaxed. The stallion he had been tracing had been joined by a female megaloceros, who both eyed him carefully. The worg sat down, hoping to appear even less threatening.
“I’m Strix. You are at the edge off my territory. Don’t worry, I don’t want to harm you. Well as long as you don’t want to attack me.” Strix waited for a few more moments, watching the reaction of the two herbivores. The doe steeped carefully forwards, as if she wanted to shield the equus, but seemed more relaxed than before. The megaloceros watched the worg curiously.
Brave for a doe, thought Strix.

Watching the sitting Worg Spirit noticed the doe kind of stepping in front of him. Snorting amused he turned his head to try and calm his two companions down. As neither of them are capable of speaking their language they haven’t understood yet that the canine is no threat to them.
Calmer but still wary Impy settled on top of his head while Jynx glared at the Worg from her position on his back.
Turning his attention back to the grey colored beast Spirit started to explain: “I’m sorry if I was trespassing your territory. I’m currently searching for something and my friends pointed me towards this direction.”

Strix tilted his head at the sight of the two creatures on the equus back. He had seen such creatures before, but rarely up close.
“Hmm, can I help you with your search? It has been some time since I have been here, but I think I still know the territory well enough. And my nose works still fine, despite my age.” Strix didn’t know what the herbivore was searching for, but his bet was some kind of plant. If it smelled strong enough, maybe he would be able to smell it. The megaloceros turned her head into the direction of the stallion.
“i think that could work. What are you searching for?”

Smiling, he answers: “Thanks. In fact, I’m looking for some sort of stone. My friends told me it’s a special one and I will definitely recognize it once I see it. It should be somewhere around this area, yet I wasn’t really lucky until now and haven’t even found a trace of it.”
Despite knowing already the item he was looking for was not around, the Equus let his gaze wander around the area.
Yeah… no sign at all of this “special” stone.
Spirit actually wasn’t even sure anymore if this was just another prank or if Erik and Luna were serious this time. Should this be another idiotic prank he sweared by the gods, the two will have it coming…

Strix was bit surprised that the stallion accepted so easily , but things like this happened. He knew from experience. What the equus said sounded ridiculous, but maybe…
At this moment, the doe perked up.
“You know, there are special stones. Some glow or have bones in it. And then there are the ones that Umbru sends down. They are stones that have fallen from the sky.”
The worg narrowed his eyes. The megaloceros could be right
“There is a weird rock formation not far away I think. Maybe we will find some there.”, said Strix, before he stood up and began moving deeper into the forest. The doe followed him.

“Sounds like a good place to start searching, thanks!”, Spirit answered cheerfully. Finally he will be done with his search and can return home!
Following the doe and the Worg they moved deeper into the forest. Now that he can focus on other things other than stubbornly looking out for this stone Spirit notices many kinds of birds flying around and singing. Oh how he missed these beautiful noises!
Apparently it was not only him being intrigued by all these birds, Jynx on his back tried all kinds of acrobatic moves to get at least a little bit closer to the small beautiful animals.
Laughing he turned his attention back to the Worg leading the way.

With Strix leading the way, it didn’t take too long to find the stones the worg had mentioned. Val took a moment to take the appearance off the place in, before searching between the rocks. A few old and large rocks were arranged what could be described as a circle, but what was more just stones standing in a weird shape around something. Said something was a hollow, nearly unnoticeable under the layers of new growing plants. Curiously, Val walked closer. Strix meanwhile examined one of the stones.

Arriving at their destination Spirit was amazed by the number of stones and rocks in this place. Surely his stone has to be here as well! Searching between different formations he tried to keep an eye out for everything that looks different from the other stones. The Equus found lots and lots of different shapes and forms, yet he had the feeling it’s not the shape that made his stone so special…
Raising his head he saw the doe looking at something in the middle of a circle. Getting closer to her he asked: “What have you found there?”

Taking care to not get hurt, Val carefully removed the plants over the hollow. And there, buried in the earth was a stone. Old moss had grown over it, but Val could still see the strange texture under it. Using her hooves, the doe tried to dig out the stone. After a few moments, Strix came over and together the two beasts managed to drag the stone out of the hollow.
“Is this the stone?”, asked Val

Spirit took a closer look. Under the moss were some weird signs engraved and the texture in general was just… well, not a normal stone texture to tell the truth.
“It could be”, he answered. “I’d have to take it with me and show my friends to make sure though. If that is okay with you two of course. I would bring it back afterwards as well as I don’t really see a reason to keep it to be fair…”
Just how in the world did Erik and Luna know of this stone?!?

Strix looked at the stone for a moment, before focusing on the equus.
“If you want to take it, you can. This isn’t really my territory anymore,and what am I supposed to do with a stone? You can keep it if you want. I don’t think anyone has been to this place for years.”
“I don’t want it. I don’t even know how I would carry that stone.”, was the answer of the doe.

I the end Strix ended up helping Spirits two companions lifting the stone up to the back of the stallion and the equus carried the stone proud but confused back to his friends.
Val left the worg to continue on her way, while Strix returned into the deeps of his territory.
