Description
I walked down gothic hallways,Windows long shattered.
These people inside,
They never cease screaming.
I lived in the shadows,
Afraid the purity of the light might burn.
I was at home where no one else was,
Where the quite solitude,
Was only interrupted by the others.
We all walked in shadows.
We all lacked worth.
We all dreamed nightmares,
That didn't end when the dream did.
I felt blind,
Yet I saw all.
The people outside wanted to see me in the light.
But the others here swore they lied.
The light was dangerous.
I spent God knows how long,
Lingering on an invisible threshold.
So scared of the burn.
Not quite ready to accept what came next.
But we all grow up someday.
I've put gothic hallways behind me,
I've stopped living by moonlight,
Settling down into life where I'm not normal,
But I'm one of the living.
And I felt out of place,
These sunny people so happy to see me in light,
And me, numb inside from to long in the cold,
Living with the living dead.
The light has thawed me.
I remember laughter again.
I think that maybe I'll never be like them,
But I can live in their bright world.
I don't think I mind the light.
