Description
Survivor #34
Spending the entire trip down below deck wasn't Kastiel's original plan, but with Daedalus not well, she didn't want to leave him unattended for too long. Napa seemed to enjoy her company anyway, seeing as the two got along rather well. While Dae stood miserable in his box, Kas stayed by Napa, giving him an equal amount of attention, knowing that if she focused directly on the ill stallion, Napa would have a fit and eventually find a way to make it "even".
However, after spending the entire night and most of the day down there, Kastiel was ready to stretch her legs and get a little sun. She made sure both stallions were moderately comfortable, or in Dae's case as comfortable as he could be, and then made her way to the deck. What she found was rather disappointing. Off in the distance was the rumble of thunder, a warning to the big, dark grey clouds rolling in towards the ship. No one else seemed all too concerned though, so Kas went on with her business.
Kastiel had only gotten a half hour to relax before the clouds starting coming in dangerously close. The air had grown tense as the other passengers and their horses began to notice the shift in the atmosphere as well. Feeling unsettled, Kas was left pacing along a section of the ship's railing. Her pointed tail flicked back and forth in an irritated manner, and her deep blue eyes flicked towards the quickly approaching storm every now and then. She had figured that she should probably be going back to the horses to settle them down during the storm, but she first wanted to know how the ship would handle it.
She didn't have to wait long. Suddenly the storm was upon them, throwing down rain like daggers, stinging Kastiel's skin where it hit. This storm was furious. It whipped around the wind, cracking it scoldingly against anyone who moved too slow. Kas shielded her face and started across the boat to get to the stalls, knowing that the sounds of the storm would be spooking the unexpecting horses. She had to push through a few panic ridden people to get there, but relief came over her as soon as she was under and the wind and rain gave her a break. She walked over to her two stallions and was impressed to find that both merely shuffled uneasily, unlike a few others that she had seen completely freaking out.
Napayshni nickered softly when Kastiel came back. He sensed the danger of the storm as well as a few of the other horses, and it was clear that he didn't want to be here anymore. Kas placed a calming hand on his neck and gave a sigh. "The storm will pass soon," she said, more or less to bring her some comfort as well. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case. Kastiel looked up in alarm when someone came running in yelling about the ship going down. She quickly slid her makeshift rope halters over the horses' heads and started to lead them towards the deck with everyone else.
What she found was horrifying. The ship was beginning to tilt; she could feel it in the way she had to stand. Horses and riders were leaping off the ship, and Kastiel decided at once that that was what they were going to have to do. She took them over to the railing and sucked in a deep breath. Those black, crashing waves below looked none too inviting. Napa went over first. Kastiel had no problem in getting him to jump in, and Dae happily followed. She was sure that he would have done anything to get off the ship in the first place. After the two horses went over, Kas climbed over the railing, took one glance back at the ship, and then lept.
She plunged into the cold, dark water and gasped. She tried to get up to the surface for a breath, but the water forced her down, forbidding her. She thought about the two stallions and where they might be. She thought about how panicked they must be. She could see a few shapes off in the distance, although they got more blurry by the second. Instead of fighting it, she let herself go. Frowning, Kas slowly closed her eyes and let the darkness overcome her.

I don't like this. No matter what I did with it, it just didn't want to come out the way I pictured it. Not to mention I can't draw water. Or humans. And Dae and Napa look ridiculous. I just don't like it. Might try something else, but probably not. So..

This turned out beautifully! I'd imagine those poses would've been quite difficult to draw. Maybe add a few bubbles coming from their mouths/nostrils to make the water look more... watery?

It's certainly not my best. Water and I just don't go together well, especially when it comes to drawing it. XD I'll try the bubble thing. But probably tomorrow since it's like 2:30 in the morning right now. Meh. But yeah, I seem to like to pick the most difficult poses to draw.. and then they turn out all yucky anyway D:
