Description
The trek away from the stable seemed to drag on for hours. Russell had to stop every now and then to check upon Hatter when he'd fall behind. She didn't care much for him, but she knew that now he was her responsibility, and she needed to look after him. It annoyed her quite a bit, but there was no way she was going back. It was all or nothing -- go big or go home. Russell was going big.
Hatter, on the other hand, was enjoying himself. He was happy to get to go out. He loved adventures, so what better way than to travel with Russell? He had no idea of the burden he had put on her by coming along, but since he had gotten her to agree, he decided there wasn't much to worry about. Besides, he could look after himself.
Land stretched for miles ahead, and the sun seemed to light everything up the further they went. There was a large forest ahead, old trees looming over the fields that invited the two escapees. Russell smiled happily. The forest meant that they were far away enough from the stable, and she no longer had to worry about any of the stablehands catching her. However, just when she started to believe she might be able to relax some, she heard Hatter shouting up ahead.
Alarmed, Russell snapped out of her thoughts and searched ahead, heard thumping when she couldn't see the colt. Wonderful. She picked up into a fast trot, bright yellow eyes scanning the expanse of field ahead. There. She caught a glimpse of something on the other side, near the forest. Upon further observation, she learned it was Hatter. Rolling her eyes, Russell loped over to him. She was never able to catch up, though, because Hatter had shot off.
Russell pinned her ears, refusing to lose him again. She followed, dashing after him. It felt like flying, the way they were able to gallop across the field. Suddenly she felt herself smiling, and not long after she echoed the sounds of the young colt's laughing. She loved the way the wind felt against her, and as she slowed, she saw that Hatter, too, had been enjoying himself. He looked quite windblown, actually, and Russell couldn't help but laugh a little at that.
The two traveled along mutually, keeping themselves company, though friendly it hadn't been the entire way. Hatter found it was easy to get on Russell's nerves, and he was starting to notice how unhappy she became whenever he rambled on endlessly.
" Don't you ever shut up? " she had asked at one point.
Hatter had been taken aback. " What? "
" You keep talking.. and talking.. and talking. It's getting anno- " Russell was cut off.
" Where the hell do you think you're going?! "
shit story is rather shit. quickly scribbled it up off the top of my head.. lots of ramblings and just shitty story stuff. I was actually planning on starting to add in other charries, but it just seemed too soon.. now, however, I'll be throwing the first curveball. ^^
