falling — a thousand parachutes

Description wish it was you who lifted my heart
up up & away, a hot air balloon with
pink & blue mylar ribbons in the sky
dancing about atmosphere, i'm never coming down
brown eyes, ferris wheel, whirlwind, synth-pop
i'm in for the things like ridicule and beating hearts
symphonies of emotion: adagios, staccatos, mezzo-fortes
my voice & yours on guitar playing the song that'll
illustrate a love that'll launch a thousand ships
or at least a thousand parachutes

well, i'm counting backwards 'til i fall in love
it's kind of like being drugged by anesthesia
the closer you get to 'one' you're there
but you never get to one before you're
caught in that drift like a cloud in the aerosphere
next thing you know, your heart's out like a light
and a warm buzz fills the room
and you're falling faster than the speed of sound

and when i hear you
low key melody, soft in my ear
eyes smiling on the jump down
wish it was you who wrote me a poem
or at least a song i can sing to your guitar
to illustrate the love that'll launch a thousand parachutes
or at least yours & mine.

Great poem! The second stanza is absolutely perfect! This is the first time I've ever heard love being compared to anesthesia. Really, really good stuff.
