Since school is basically over, they are taking away the iPads that they gave out at the beginning of the year, tomorrow. I was using the iPad to write my story on, so I'm submitting this on dA to save it. ITS NOT FINISHED YET SO READ AT YOUR OWN PACE. ✘

"Why the hell were you out in the cold, Iris?"

After I had started to get into the car, I was immediately scolded by Cody.

"It doesn't matter.." I answered nonchalantly, shutting the car door, proceeding to put on my seatbelt.
He pulled away from the park, and started to drive down the road.

The amount of silence between us was almost painful.
I laid my head against the window, watching the houses fly by as our speed picked up.

Cody finally spoke up.

"That's not the right answer." He gripped the steering wheel.

"I thought it was a pretty good one." I answered with more attitude than I had intended.

"Iris! I will pull this car over, answer my damn question!"

I turned away from him, "I'm not a little kid, Cody."

I felt the car halt to a stop, and I heard a door open, and close.

Śhit.

Then I saw my door open.
I wish it hadn't.

I couldn't even tell what Cody's emotions were-- he looked pissed, but he also looked concerned.

"You're right. You're not a little kid." He says this as he attempts to remove the seatbelt from around my waist. I bat his hand away, and he laughs. "Sorry.."

I let out a sigh. Quickly removing the seatbelt, I jump out of the car, trying my best not to make eye contact with the boy before me.
He shut the door behind me.

"Iris, look at me.."

I stayed silent.

"Look at me!" He repeated, slightly louder than before.

I defied his orders once more.

I heard him growl in anger, and he kicked the side of the car, making an incredibly loud thud.

I still refused to make eye contact, though I saw him sit on the sidewalk.
I continued to stay silent.
I wanted to talk. I wanted to tell him to get up-- because he was sitting in snow, and call him an idiot, my idiot. That he would get cold. And that he'd be my sick idiot if he didn't get up.
But I couldn't.

"Why are you doing this? Do you hate me?" He asked sternly.

Apparently that was what it took to get me back to normal.

"No! Why the hęll would you ask a question like that?"

"Is that what it takes to get you to talk to me? I have to ask vile questions just to get you to look at me? What the hęll am I supposed to think?"

"You're not supposed to think! You're supposed to know! I don't hate you, you should know that.."

Now it was his turn to stay silent.

I took the opportunity and awkwardly sat next to him.
I was aware of the snow, melting into my jeans, but I didn't care.

We always got into fights, and we always made up.
We never gave up on each other.

I gently laid my head on his shoulder, unexpectedly making him jump.

"Are you still mad at me..?" I asked, quietly.

He simply sighed, "No, I'm not mad.. But I am worried about you, Iris. This isn't the first time I've seen you somewhere other than your house, and the reasons don't even make sense. Nobody would just leave their house in shitty weather like this. There's something your not telling me, and we're not suppose to keep secrets from each other."

I started to chew on my lip.
I can't tell him.
Not yet.
Nobody can know..
Not even Hayden.

"Sometimes I just need to get away from home.. I can't control the weather....--"

Silence.

"--...I really don't want to talk about this. Especially if it's going to make us argue."

He sighed again, and kissed the top of my head, "You're right, I'm sorry.", he then started to get up, offering me his hand. "C'mon, we'll catch pneumonia if we stay out here any longer."

I took his hand and stood up. He gave me a smile, which I returned, and we walked back to the car.

And yes. Our pants were still wet from the snow.

"So--", I began to speak, "What's on the agenda today?"

"Well--", Cody glanced over at me from the drivers seat. "My mom just got a new couch. Figured we'd try it out." He winked at me as he said this.

I stifled a laughter. "Don't get any funny ideas."

His hand came over to squeeze my knee, and I rolled my eyes.
He saw this, and chuckled.

"I wasn't getting any ideas, if anything you're being the provocative one." He smirked.
The car had stopped at a red light, and he was waiting for the signal-- telling him he could go.

I felt my face heat up, and I held my hands to my cheeks, hoping he wouldn't see my now blushing face.
But, to no avail, he had grabbed my hand, moving it away from my face.

As we were still stuck in the red light, he swiftly planted a kiss on my cheek, releasing my hand from his grip.

The car had finally started to move again, and I could see our destination coming into view.
I let out a sigh, aware of what awaited me, as he drove down the street and into the driveway.

The loud noise of the engine died down as Cody turned the car off, taking the key out of the ignition.
Silently, I watched as he made his way around the front of the car, and to the passenger side-- where I was sitting. He opened the door, and offered a hand, helping me to get out of the car.
Hearing the car door shut behind me, I made my way up the steps, towards the front door of his house, and stood waiting for Cody to come and unlock the door.

—Cody's POV—

I laughed to myself when I looked at her. She was slightly shivering, staring at the door knob, like if she stared long enough, the door would just magically open.

Walking towards her, I ask, "What are you doing?"

Quickly, she looks at me, then back at the inanimate knob, and replies, "I'm trying to use my awesome mind powers to open this door. Duh."

I laughed slightly, "What mind powers?"

She jokingly rolled her eyes, "They're secret mind powers! You don't know about them!"
