Chapter 6.

Lights burned through the translucent white curtains as Xavier snapped his eyes shut once more. A low groan escaped him as he rolled onto his stomach, pressing the pillow over his head to block out any light. He felt something prodding his stomach, but… wasn’t he in his room?

“Wha…?” He groaned as the pillow was forcefully pried off of his face, exposing him to the burning light once more.

“Come on Xay, it’s almost three! Get uuuppp!” Kane whined and poked Xavier in the stomach once more.

“Uhhggg, what happened?” He groaned, rolling over to keep from getting poked again.
“Did I get knocked up or something?!” He said, suddenly feeling sick.

“Heh, more like drunk off your rocker, my dear friend.” Kane said with a chuckle and got off the bed, nearly knocking the older teen on the floor in the process.

“Aaahhhh don’t move!” He whined, pulling a blanket back up over his head. Kane rolled his eyes and grabbed some clean clothes.

“Try not to puke in my bed, okay?” He said, walking towards the bathroom. About half an hour later he came out, fully dressed, and hair still damp from when he gave up on the broken hair-dryer. Xavier was sitting there, huddled on the corner of the bed, leaning against the wall with his head resting on his knees.

“Uhmm… do you want some coffee?” He asked, never having been drunk before, therefore not really knowing what to do.
Xavier nodded, standing up and walking slowly to the kitchen, plopping down into one of the chairs at the table and resting his head on his arms.
Kane poured a cup of coffee and mixed in some milk before setting it down in front of the hung-over boy before taking a seat across from him.
Hmm… this could be a good opportunity to mess with him. He IS always pulling shit on me. Kane grinned evilly, unnoticed by Xavier who was currently downing his cup ‘o coffee.
Kane rested his head on his hand and grinned at him. “So, last night was fun, huh?”
Xay’s eyes widened. What DID happen last night?! I remember coming home, going to Kane’s house, having a party, something about Isaac… after that, nothing. He searched his memory frantically while Kane sat with a smug grin on his face. I HAD to have had something to drink, that’s a given. It could explain why we woke up in the same bed… but I still had clothes on, so I know we didn’t do THAT. Ugh…. Wait, I walked in on him and Isaac… kissing?! His eyes widened as he looked up from his nearly empty mug.
Kane’s expression fell as his eyes searched his friends. Xavier spoke first after a couple of uncomfortable minutes.

“You… and Isaac were… kissing?” He mumbled out, looking down embarrassedly. Kane sighed and nodded, but didn’t say anything else. Really, what could he say?
“But you didn’t get drunk, did you?” Kane shook his head and looked down.
“Then why-“

“Xavier,” Kane cut in. Must have been pretty important if he used his full name instead of “Xay”. “That was… a test.”

“A test? For what? To see if you were ga-“

“Bi.” He interjected again. Xavier’s brows knitted together as he thought for a minute.

“And?”

”And what?” Kane replied, a bit on-edge about the whole thing.

“How’d you… do on this ‘quiz’?” He asked, curiously. Kane sat thoughtfully for a moment, before answering.

“I… passed I guess.” His cheeks tinted pink.

“So you’re bi, and the first one to find out is Isaac? Why not me?!” He said, a look of mock-hurt. Kane looked up and grinned.

“Well sooooorry. I had to figure it out first! I planned on telling you… eventually. I was afraid you’d I dunno… DISOWN me or something. Geeze.”

“Kane, I don’t care. You’re still my best friend and you should know I’d accept you no matter what!” He said, expression unchanged.

“So you’re okay with it?” Kane asked, just to reassure himself.

“I’m fine with it! I put up with Isaac, don’t I?” He said playfully.

Kane grinned and shrugged.

“I just never really expected it from you ‘s all.” Xavier said, chugging the last of his coffee before getting up and putting the empty mug in the sink.

“Expect to be surprised.” Kane retorted. At least he doesn’t know the other half of the story… yet. He thought, leaning back in his chair.
“So now what? I’m bored.”

“You’re ALWAYS bored.” Xavier laughed, walking into the next room and plopping down on the couch. Suddenly, his head shot up and he grinned. “Wanna make cookies?” He asked. Kane gave him a perplexed look, but smiled.

“Sure. Go find the recipe and I’ll help make ‘em.”

“But it’s YOUR house.”

“It was YOUR idea.”

“FINE!” Kane let out an exasperated sigh and went over to his cupboard. He went to work pulling out all the necessary ingredients while Xavier stood by with a smug look on his face. Remind me again, why I like this guy so much? He thought as he began mixing everything together.

“Need help?” Xavier finally said. Halfway through making the cookies. Thanks.
Kane rolled his eyes.

“Here.” He handed the dough-covered spoon to his friend. “I’ll go get a cookie sheet.”

“Hmmm….” Xavier mumbled, licking the spoon. “Mmmmm yummy!” He smiled, and continued to lick the spoon clean, then sticking it back in the bowl.

“Oh NIIICE.” Kane said, before laughing and sticking his fingers in and eating some dough himself.

“You know…” Xavier started, licking his spoon. “I don’t really feel like baking these anymore.”
Kane nodded.

“Me neither.” He said, grabbing a spoon out of the silverware drawer and walking back into the living room. “Come on, let’s watch a movie!” He said, waving his spoon towards the TV.

“’kay.” Xavier said, handing the bowl to Xavier before plopping himself in front of the huge movie shelf. “Pirates of the Caribbean? Nah, seen it too many times. Finding Nemo…. NO. How ‘bout Bridge to Terribithia? Never seen that one.” Kane’s eyes widened slightly and he smiled.

“GOOD movie. Putitinnoooooow!” He said, bouncing up and down on the couch.
And thus the movie begins.
Toward the end of the movie.

Kane could feel his eyes welling up with tears. This part. EVERY TIME. Made him cry.
“Why does she have to DIE?!?!” He exclaimed, wiping the tears from his eyes, hoping to go un noticed by the older teen who looked quite bored. Too late.

“Aww, come on! You can sit through and ENJOY horror movies, chat and laugh with people at FUNERALS, but when a chick dies in a movie, you cry?” He said, raising an eyebrow.

“Shut up! I’m entitled to my emotional rights!” He said, throwing a pillow at Xavier.

“Yeah, whatever. I’m bored.”  Xavier said, turning the TV to Fuse after the movie finished.

“Oh, and I’M always bored.” He mocked.

“Yeah, yeah.” He said.

“Ohhhh I love this song!” Kane said, before singing to Dig by Incubus.

“Heh. Yeah. You’re gonna kill it!” Xavier joked, smacking his best friend with a pillow.

“Pshhh like you could do better!” He said, playing with his necklace that Xay’d given him. Xavier just smiled and flipped through the channels. Suddenly, he stopped and his eyes got wide.

“OH SHIT. Does my mom know I’m still here?!” Kane froze. Damn, he’d forgotten about that! He turned his head slowly.

N-no… I was too busy taking care of your drunk ass to call your mom. Oh fuck. We’re screwed.” He said, biting his lip nervously.

“Yeah… thanks for that by the way. I’d be even more fucked if I went home drunk.” He sighed. “I could always say we fell asleep watching movies or something.” He added, standing up.

“You’d better get home then.” Kane said sadly.

“You act as if it’s the end of the world! Geeze. See ya Monday.” Xavier called, walking out the door.

“Yeah… Monday.”
