Spent too long on this, but the suit design was a labor of love. I did it without reference, even though I had it, because I was too lazy. The metroid was drawn and colored separately, then added. I wish I had better pics of Metroids for reference, but I couldn't find many drawings. Also, I did a slew (slough? sliu? wtf?) of Metroid dawings lately, so expect another upload or two.pencil on paper, photoshop CS2, 4x6 wacom.
Also, as a side note, I'd really like to go to AFO [Anime Festival Orlando] at the end of this month, as I live pretty close to it, but I don't have an art table. If any of you are willing to share a table with me, I'd sacrifice my firstborn to have half of it. No seriously, we could work out a deal where I'd give you some money and/or prints and/or food. I first saw this picture on a youtube video. i always wondered who drew it, and i must say job well done. i love how this picture really brings out a feeling of vulnerability, like shes aware that right now she's about the smallest thing in the universe. imagining her this way, as a somewhat reluctant hero who is aware of how terrifying her challenges are adds so much depth to her character, the game, and really just ups the stakes. this is seriously beautiful and inspiring work.

This image really helps one to appreciate the size of the Hatchling - in fact, it could even be a little bigger. Also, I really like the suit design, looks a much more realistic garment for Samus to wear than her current zero suit.

On the downside, her face is reading a little flat to me. No complaints about the Metroid, and a last note - nice use of shadows.

I agree on her suit. It doesn't look overdone as it was in Brawl...it's like Nintendo was looking for SOME way to give their fans some sort of fanservice.
Even though a guy, and I'm straight, I kind of found it discomforting to play as Samus in her Zero Suit....and I like the hot babes.

cool, I like that this style has an anime cover book style to it, even though your were or not planing to make that way.But it's still awesome, and it's cool that theirs a tone of yellow and green in the piece.

Great job man. I like how you captured her pose. No one has done fan art on Samus at this young of an age, as far as I can tell. Her suit looks freaking awesome, a badass in the making I think.
