For just one second,
When you cross the street,
Think to yourself:
Please, for the love of God,
Don't let that car slow down.

When you make dinner,
Think to yourself:
This knife is really sharp,
It could…hurt.

When you go to sleep at night,
Think to yourself:
If I don't wake up,
Will anyone notice I'm gone?

When someone says they love you,
Think to yourself:
No they don't,
I'm all alone, unloved.

When you go on a date,
Think to yourself:
I don't deserve this person,
I'm not good enough.

When your thoughts betray you,
Making your darkest fears come to light,
For just that one second,
Don't let your mind dictate your heart,
Even for that one second.
