When I Wake Up

Every night just before I go to bed, even though you can't hear it every time, I tell you "good night, sweet dreams, and I love you."

As my eyes shut and I slowly drift off into the river of sleep you're the last thought through my mind.

When I dream you're the one that I dream of and the reason I now sleep with a smile plastered upon my face.

Since you have been the subject of the book that is my dreams there have been only the sweetest chapters written and all tales of nightmares have vanished from the pages.

When I wake up in the morning I tell you, though you usually can't hear it, "Good morning babe, I love you".

When I wake up the first thing I do is check my phone to see if you texted or called.

After that I text you, awaiting your reply as if it were life giving nourishment.

You're the only way I want to start my day now and until my last morning, and even then I will close my eyes for the last time with a smile on my face, a tear on my eye, and you on my mind.
