Description
3 test pieces for colour selection in the workshop today.
Right hand one is forest green, left hand is a dark grey and the middle one is an Astro thread (from Madeira, it's a mix of colours, in this case pale greens and turquoise, the effect is a bit like an oil sheen on water).
This is a "standard" design we've been working on. It's aimed principally at the bridal market where we can embroider panels for other dressmakers, but is a generally useful traditionally styled design.
First use is going to be on a sample "Mother of the Bride" made to measure smart dress & jacket that Clare can wear on our stall at local Wedding Fairs. The panel is already embroideerd and she should have the dress made up tonight and ready for the next fair which is this Saturday. If time allows we'll do a jacket too, with a bigger version of this design on the back.
We liked the Astro best but it's only available in a very limited number of colours so as a sales sample would confuse customers when we said they couldn't do a version of it to match their choice of fabric colour. Therefore we selected the forest green for this sample dress as we have a wide range of solid colours available.
The test pieces were also being used to finalise design details, right hand is version 106, lefthand is version 107, and middle is version 108. The design had some stitch problems that needed to be sorted and so we took the opportunity to test different colours while testing the stitch adjustments.

Feel free to download the image for personal use (eg desktop, screensaver, pinterest, facebook, tumblr, etc) as is, but no derivative works or commercial use please.
