When will it end?

I read your article about scripture and homosexual people, etc. I was moved to tears. I wish the Christian community would wake up and start practicing there religion correctly. It gives those of us who try to follow Christs teachings, a bad name!
I lived in Rock Spring Wyoming the year they killed Matthew Shepard. I remember being so sickened inside. I decided to go to Laramie and place flowers at his graveside. While some friends of mine waited for the funeral to conclude, people were holding signs at the funeral home saying things like. "God Hates Gays" or "Matthew Shepard is in Hell". I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. A family was mourning the loss of a son, brother and nephew for god sake and this is what people were doing in response? What happened to the commandment, love one another? What happened to compassion and service to our fellow man? Two of my friends were gay. They were so frightened by the mob at the funeral, they left in fear of their lives. After the murder of Matthew Shepard, some of my homosexual friends left Wyoming because they feared the same thing would happen to them.
On that day I was so ashamed to be a Christian. I hope things like this well stop. Every night I pray for peace and acceptance of our fellow man. No matter there sexual orientation.

Bobby Griffiths is his name. he died from suicide. the movie was called prayers for bobby and is a very sad but emotionally moving film

there is a movie made by lifetime based on something similar. it was a (not sure of name). personally i believe love is love regardless of form

I saw the article about "50 reasons for which homosexuality is wrong" that you have in your fave news. Amazing job with the fractal, really. I'm glad there's so many active deviants for LGBT rights, and I'm even happier to know that some religious people do have a wider view of things - most Christians I know are bigots, unfortunately.

I originally went to that article thinking, "Why does this have so many favorites if it's an article about why homosexuality is wrong?" --Got a bit of a shock, but a happy one.
I'm always relieved when I meet Christians who aren't homophobic. I'm actually agnostic, so I try not to talk about religion much, but this is one topic that I talk about. I think the prejudice in the churches is so antithetical to the message of Jesus Christ, it's ridiculous.
If you're interested, there's a documentary that goes into greater depth about people with pro-gay Biblical beliefs. It's called For the Bible Tells Me So. I'm not terribly interested in Christianity, but I still enjoyed it. You can usually find it on YouTube. [link]

I had your same reaction when I first read the article, so I went into it and... the big surprise. And the big laughs!
I'm atheist, but I'm always interested in religion of all kinds. Oriental ones mostly, but I don't mind Occident either. Thank you for the documentary too, I'm more than halfway through and I find it so very interesting!
