*Update start* corrected some issues with the teeth and lower lip of the dragon, btw. dA has a very bad compression method especially with this piece - colors and details got lost in previous versions *update end*

FULLVIEW is DUTY!

Ok, here it comes, more devilish than the WIP -ones, i know its very dark, but i changed the loss of details, for the new focus on the important parts

Have decided to leave the details on the dragon to the head and the shape, instead of painting countless scales, sometimes a mood compensates more than hours spent on details.

This collab was a lot of work, i think i have improved a lot(thanks to those who commented in the following threads)

thank you very much, yes the red is indeed very bad for the eyes, but i guess its no piece to stare for hours( or at least it shouldn´t) so the quick look should be burned like a stamp

From the thumbnail I was like nah this has gone horribly wrong, then I checked out the full view, great stuff. The red really intensifies and complements the piece.

Ah so much improved! I iekd teh colors before ,but the red I liek too . Its much mroe intese feelgin intead of happy whymsical fantasy land this is full of danger and sex appeal. her eyes and the dragons grin especialy!
Much admiration and respect for your abilty to take advise, keep going though all that work and also have balls enough to change the entire thing!

thank you so much!
"happy whymsical fantasy land" is wonderfully expressed, from a sketch that has no color and mood at the beginning - everything is open, i like to play with colors and if a piece can get better by stepping back and changes- why not-
cheers!

Agree completely ,but sometimes its hard to destroy some of the work even to make it better.
Its great how the color can make so drastic a change in mood!

yepp, i´m lately completely fascinated by the idea of using plastiline to do 3d -models for reference, as it helps me to visualize and give "happy accidents" a chance, while working with 3d -software is nice, but it would take me ages to just build simple things from scratch - in plastiline its natural to me- and when its purpose is done, it will be destroyed to create something new-

Sleetwealth In reply to fantasio [2009-05-27 08:30:59 +0000 UTC]

I just do a quick thumnail sketch of my general idea. More often I just start with no direction at all other than a humanish type of thing. Its easy to make a wire armature stick figure with some basic clay shapes to pose.

sure, a quick sketch can help to visualize, but its not necessary.

I'm loving it bro. The dark-red atmosphere is very suiting for the sexy but kind of vicious looking dragon whisperer (she could whisper me to bed too). I really digg the detail work you did on the tits/bra.

I'm glad you finished it.

really appreciate that you followed the whole steps
and i´m glad you approve the direction it took finally!

yepp, she whispers only to the dragon - who is the lucky one that gots all red (pun intended)

this is amazing
I love the way the legs ended up
The dragon's head is amazing
I just would shade some more the tiny trikini's edges (or whatever that's called) so you can see that it's on the body and not a part of it.
keep up the amazing work

time is different, the complete time for this piece in particular could be gathered to 32 hours, besides other projects, i tend to work about 8-10 hours a day on a piece like his.

markus-beer In reply to ??? [2009-05-19 21:49:28 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fantasio In reply to markus-beer [2009-05-19 22:25:31 +0000 UTC]

Damaged-Fractal In reply to ??? [2009-05-19 20:25:03 +0000 UTC]

You totally changed the mood, I've never seen a dragon (not yet ) but this one looks specially deadly... those teeth... I like the changes you did to her face but the pose is still complicated, her knee and foot are in different angles, it's oddly rotated, I would align the foot with the knee. Now the hand at the left, the fingers are too straight, it looks a bit flat, compared to the other hand which is superb, maybe you lost detail there when you changed the colors.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fantasio In reply to Damaged-Fractal [2009-05-19 22:30:23 +0000 UTC]

thankies, and glad you think so. as for the pose, i´ve tried it, and its possible to twist foot and knee to a certain degree, is not as healthy like eating an apple, but it works better than the other pose.

try to work on those little offs -later

Damaged-Fractal In reply to fantasio [2009-05-20 05:27:59 +0000 UTC]

Probably you're right, I'm picky about poses usually because that was recurrent problem I had along with perspective, (ahem, still-have-problems-with-perspective) so I pay attention to those details and practice the poses myself before painting heheeh

Anyway, I want to see it finished!

Yoruko [2009-05-19 20:13:11 +0000 UTC]

The detailwork and anatomy on the lady is really great. Although the transition to red is also a good decision, I personally think this is a bit "too" red? It gets a bit tiring for the eye when all the shades are very warm oranges and reds. Also the depth which the WIPs' had is a bit lost.

I would suggest that you toned the reds a bit down on some parts to make a play between the contrast of saturation.

Otherwise, excellent work. I love how you gave the gal some meat on her bones and a curve!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fantasio In reply to Yoruko [2009-05-19 22:20:55 +0000 UTC]

Thankies, appreciated!

the red was something i was going for, to literally "burn the eyes"...

-i like meat on the bones, and curves - thanks for pointing that out

Nesis-mystic [2009-05-19 20:07:05 +0000 UTC]

I think you made an incredible work.
Finally, I don't know if I was such a good model. Not as much anyway, you made a fantastic work and you remade a lot of things since your first image, following the comments. I know it's hard to remake a work you're proud on, and you did it anyway. I really respect you for that!
(and for you talent of course!)

fantasio In reply to Nesis-mystic [2009-05-19 22:34:44 +0000 UTC]

thanks, glad you approve!
finally the changes and help was a thankful part, as in a personal work, i can try to get the outcome as best as possible, where in commissioned pieces thats not possible...(at least changing the color / mood in such a fatal way for good)

Modred189 [2009-05-19 19:42:42 +0000 UTC]

I like it a lot. Detail can sometimes be overrated. My on;y suggestion would be to darken the wing and lighten the head. Right now they kind of bleed together.
