Description
Abstract force - scanner versionThis drawing is another one of those I made with just ink; on the train, on the bus, on the subway, during a walk and occassionally at a usual stationary place. This actually means I didn't have a chance to correct my errors or adjust the constant slip of my inkpen. Instead I was forced to cope with it and make something out of the mistakes which sooner or later flew over my paper.
The mishaps in my drawings could be caused because of the shaky trainride or busride, my thoughtlessness, my carelessness, my absent mind, the slip of the sketchbook or my unstable hand. Either way, I dared myself to find a way to solve it, since erasing inklines isn't possible.
I see this as a possibility to learn myself to let things in the world become what they become, to make something out of my occasional errors instead of just tryng to erase them, to adjust myself to the conditions of the surroundings and to draw during circumstances which are a bit different from what I'm used to.
Above all I wanted to dare myself to draw, even if I had fears it would turn out in a horrible and uncontrollable way. I couldn't foresee when the turn, bumps and shaking of the bus or train would send my inkpen right over the paper or when my lack of concentration would make it smear shaky lines in every possible way. It is really a peculiar way of making a drawing.
In some strange way I actually enjoy it; the relief of beeing able to draw without consiously striving for visual perfection. There is no way you can expect yourself to perform something looking exactly like you want, because the turn of events in the world around you affect the lines of your inkpen with so much impact that you can't control it even if you try really hard. You simply have to learn to be creative in a new kind of way and solve existing uneraseable problems caused by the turn of time, yourself and events around you.
If you really want to challenge yourself, I can strongly recommend this little entertainment of mine. ~
With this description I also challenge everyone who reads this to try it out; draw or make something with an art-tool where you can't erase the lines, make something of your so-called errors instead. If you want to take it a step further, you can also draw while you are riding on the train, bus or walking. I will be very happy to see your results and hear your thoughts about it. Any takers?

Something like this would be cool for the back/spine of the cover!
