Fashion-wise, they look like disciples of Sai. Especially the one on the right.

Hell, with the things that, I heard, have been happening lately in the series, a lot of things are better than Naruto. I don't follow the series at all, but since I have a follower for a brother, I can't help but soak up some info about it. Well, one has to be living under a rock for the past seven or so years to not have heard of Naruto anyway.

Ah, Rook does favour these scantly clad creatures. The background turned out nice in comparison to the otherwise mainly black and white focus of the picture, it keeps your eye moving.

As far as your pencil problem goes, all I can think of are artist pencils, or a mechanical pencil... that's what I end up using most of the time when I can find pencils, which isn't often.

This looks good! You really did well with the bg- definetely pulled off that bloody red look. And as for the lines: they look pretty good here. I'd suggest using a pen, though. 0.7 or thinner is best.
I know outlining in pencil is tough; if you really like doing the lines in pencil, it will just take longer. Here, I used straight colored pencil. [link] It took forever! I had to draw each line with a regular #2 and then erase and color back in line by line. This one was easier, though- I just colored inside the lines carefully. [link] Er, if you're tight on money (like me^^), I think Crayola pencils are best. (Rosart sucks- bad, bad Roseart!)
But seriously, I think outlining in pen will give you so much more freedom for expressing the little details. [link] You'd be suprised how much easier a pen makes life...
Gah- I'll quit blabbing now...

I used a .05 mechanical pencil for all my art, and it gives very clean lines.

you could try artist pencils,in a wide range of lead sizes,i use them,i find 2H is quite a good one for crisp, smart looking lines.also good for detail, and usaully you can get a standard set which includes quite a selection,it tends to have 5B for deep dark areas, just have a look around for a basic set.Anyway i agree,i really like the background as well, and the characters are well thought up great job ^^

Reminded me of Dir en Grey. I actually like the harshness of the bold lines and limited colors.

But yeah, Microns pens work very well, the only thing is, as dogosan said, they cost like $3.00 per pen. x x;

heehee....i WISH i could capture the intensity of Dir En Grey....if i could design a costume for them that was better then anything they wore before.......that would just be .....beautiful....

Nice anatomy and poses as usual ... I use my mechanical pencil to get pretty clean lines but if you want lines at their cleanest try inking them...I use Microns (size 01 is pretty good) Copic multiliners are also good and a little cheaper than Microns...

microns are 3$per pen!? how do you afford this stuff?!

lug0si In reply to faust7 [2006-08-04 18:45:02 +0000 UTC]

Heh. I don't. I only have three, and I bought them with X-mas money. When I buy "luxuries" it only happens once in a blue moon.

ooooooooooOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!... what colors did you choose.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lug0si In reply to faust7 [2006-08-04 20:38:16 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, only black (that I know of), since they're mainly designed for detailed, linear work. They should make more colors options, though.

thanks for the advice, but copic is to rich for my peasant blood.... but can microns give me lines like [link] that guy?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lug0si In reply to faust7 [2006-08-04 18:47:20 +0000 UTC]

Actually, they should. Especially the 005 sized ones. They're the smallest and the lines they make are extremely fine.

I like it because it looks nice. Not many people can do that well. You pulled it off very nicely. Hell, I can't even do it.
