Sweeney Todd was my first R-rated movie. Β Unlike a lot of uncouth girls who saw their first R-rated movie at 11 or 12, forever messing up their fragile psyches willingly, I was 15. Β I got a lot of the symbolic lyrics and inner emotional turmoil on the first go around, but it's great to revisit this musical whenever I feel like venting about how shitty the world is for no random reason sometimes. Β "My Friends" is one of my favorite songs too.

You're Right, at the beggining I didn't like the music. but because of destiny, when I studied performing arts in college, we had to present several songs of the play as test. And the end, I love it, especially "A little Priest", "Johanna" and "By the sea"

I find all the songs enjoyable, complimenting one another. Unfortunately, those I know who love this movie only loved it for Johnny Depp and they only want to be edgy by liking something dark. They can't really feel the anguish of each character, Mr Todd in particular.
