I work in Photoshop and generally make my canvas 6-7k Pixels on it's widest places.
My basic line brush looks a bit like a flat mole, but as start painting over it, I pick a line brush that's a bit grittier.

I try to make sure each line is a "movement" that frames a form. Like a ribbon around a sweater if that helps. I try to keep my lines confident and always following the action of the shape.  Not sure if that helps, but it's how it works.

So... I cant do this size because the lag. I usually use SAI and 2/3k for canvas.

Hmmm, did you try a previous version of photoshop? A cs2 will do most of what the new ones do, and doesn't eat as much as newer versions.
