I hate when I think of an idea and then I find out that somebody already thought it.

I once came up with an idea for an episode of a show. Three years later a bizarre, eerily similar episode was released, following my prediction almost exactly.

To me it happens differently. I think to an idea, and after decades somebody thinks to the same idea, and maybe this idea becomes successful. I'm always surprised it does takes so long.
First idea: A tornado that makes you travel back in time when it goes counter clockwise, and forward when it goes clockwise.Β
After 13 years in cartoon 'courage the brave dog' there was the same concept, with minor differences. Instead of travelling in time, the tornado made you younger or older.Β About this one I though 'Well, I was 13 and I though about this by my own, and after 15 years somebody does a cartoon with the same concept... and to develop it it needed a team'Β
I was surprised because i don't think is easy to think about that.
My other idea was (and probably I will still use it) regardless vampires having blood-type like humans, and needing to drink only blood of their own blood-type, otherwise they can be sick or even die. Then in recent years (I mean, after decades I had this idea), somebody had about the same idea on her fan fiction (it really was an original story, published on a fan fiction site). I've thoughΒ 'Oh, finally somebody came with the same idea!'.
Probably this idea was never used because, according to my friend and to other people, is 'bullshit and it doesn't make sense', but I will use it anyway if I will write a story with vampires in it.
Also, at nine I had a basic idea similar to hetalia, with humanized cities instead of countries. I gave up the day later because I though that idea is BS. Honestly when I saw hetalia I though 'I'm glad I gave up on that idea, I hate it.
Right now I'm developing a story that isn't original, but is not even copied. When I started to write this story I was more curious about how I would developed an already done idea, if I'm still able to put something unique in it.

The original thought theory states that, everything you have ever thought has already been thought by somebody else due to the limitations of the human.
The only reason why something appears original is because somebody didn't have the time/resources/luck/circumstances etc. to replicate it.
Fun story: I thought I came up with this theory, but it was already made. LOL

Well, no reason not to do something you thought of anyway, even if somebody else beat you to it. There's nothing truly new under the sun. Chances are, yours will be turn out different to theirs anyway.
