I had an idea some days ago about this image; it came to my mind spontaneously...

well, that instrument is an astrolabe; the hand simbolizes who has the knwoledge; the tree simbolizes the complete understanding of life, something we all strive for.

I like the slight texture applied to the whole piece... kind of looks like it was printed on fancy lightly-textured paper. Also, I'm just generally head-over-heels for astrolabes, so, yeah.

That is a very powerful image. I must confess, I'm a sucker for sepia tones ^^'
I also love the plainness of the hand - whether that was the stock or your own editing, it really adds to the idea that it could be anyone.
