Her father (Fannar) was working for some siderians who traded and experimented with dangerous ecals, while her mother (Sivana) was involved in coordinating the metacluster and was actually opposing these dangerous activities. There was quite some tension between the two, but eventually Fannar got mostly out of this business. When things calmed down and Fannar and Sivana actually got to know each other better, they formed a bond and even got two cubs (Malta and Ragna; they were never really exposed to Fannar’s history).

Malta’s childhood was rather calm, despite her highly flammable sister. During her teenage to adolescent years, she developed a strong interest in plants and the use of plant metabolites for healing- or defense purposes. The Island of Ice and Fire is a place rich of rare and powerful ecals, but plant-life is a little poor there; and so was social life for siderians. So in her twenties, Malta decided to leave and travelled to the Fjordlands (Norway) where there was much more to do. She explored the lands around the metacluster MistFjord and while she was hunting on unfamiliar territories, she got spotted by Axel Sætansen. He had a crush on her immediately (her green eyes captured him) and eventually, that became mutual (thanks to Axel’s insistent courting and flattering).

Malta may have heard stories about the ancient Sætansen dynasty but only now, she got to meet them for real. The current Sætansen family-head, Matthias, accepted her in and she settled on their gigantic territory. She quickly made friends with Mara, the mate of Axel’s brother. The relation with Axel was a little turbulent, since Axel still spent much time patrolling the land with his brother (Morten) and doing things for his father. A few years after Malta and Axel met, their son Ravn was born. But there were increasing dangers from both neighbouring siderians and a growing human village not far from the metacluster. Especially when Mara’s daughter died in a snare-trap, Malta felt like leaving the dangerous territories of Axel and his family. She was already pregnant of another cub and decided to go to her safer homelands, where she gave birth to Yava. Axel stayed behind and their relation had nearly fallen into jeopardy.

After a few years with little Yava and Ravn on tIcef , Malta and Axel came to terms again. The situation around the Sætansen lands had calmed down and Matthias had made sure that there was no danger of humans on the lands anymore. Malta wanted to raise Yava in the surroundings of MistFjord where she could meet other cubs, so she travelled back and settled on the Sætansen lands again. There, Malta spent much time together with Mara, thereby giving Yava and Ravn the chance to play with their similar aged cousins Goran and Stian. Meanwhile, Malta continued to develop her plant-knowledge and had become a skilled healer, specialized in herbal medicines, anaesthetics and a little bit on neurotoxins.

Turbulence was still not far from home when Stian (Yava’s cousin) disappeared and got abused by humans. Yava had a difficult time processing Stian’s change of behaviour after he was saved and had come back. Malta was of full support to her daughter. When Stian disappeared again in his early twenties, Yava turned again to her mother for mental support for the many years to come. Stian hadn’t come back and in the meantime, humans had become a threat again. In that time, several siderians got shot, poisoned or ended up in snares. Even Malta got shot, but she survived the wound. After a long period of recovery, she came back to full function again, also thanks to her extensive knowledge of herbalism.

Many years of tension had passed when Yava finally brought the news that Stian was found and still alive. Malta urged Yava to go to him and thereby see more of the world. Just a few years later, she came back together with Stian, Goran and a few other siderians, one of them being Yava’s new mate Falkner. As soon as they were back, Stian established the Fjordland Force to start an organized fight against the invading humans. Malta joined the force and became one of the chief healers. She taught Yava her medicinal skills and had become a central person in the healing department. Over the years, she passed on her knowledge to many other siderians . She continued to do so until she was too old to join the missions any longer…
