Try this instead: [link]
Just download the script and place it in your GIMP scripts folder, open up the image you want to melt, and run the script. It will take care of the rest!

hmm... sorry to bother you, but the images in the tutorial aren't showing up. do you have any ideas on how to fix that?
π: 0 β©: 1
fence-post In reply to kyuubifred [2008-09-25 16:50:45 +0000 UTC]
No problem. There should be an "images" folder within the zip file. Make sure that you save that folder and all the images contained within it, to the same place you saved the html file. For example, save both the images folder/html page to your desktop, then double-click on the html file and you *should* be able to see them. Let me know if you have any trouble. After you understand the concepts, you might want to check out this script which does everything automatically for you: [link] But, I do think it's a good idea to work through it manually first so you learn some new techniques.
Cheers!

Thanks for the tut. Although I didn't use the "melt" idea, this still supplied me with all the info I needed to create my new Avatar. Great job.

Glad you like it! I also have a script for it here: [link] You just open up the image you want to "melt", resize it accordingly, and run the script. The script handles everything.

Well, with just a little bit of practice, you'll be able to work as fast as you want or need to. So, don't think of it as being sad.

You never fail to make amazing tutorials, Fence! You just inspired a few new avatars for my website with this (most involving phrases like "I melt when you look at me that way" ).

How the heck are you, Angie?! Been a long time. Thanks for the comments and glad you found the tutorial useful. Make sure you show me your finished product. We miss you at the dome. You came in like a whirlwind and were gone just as fast.
Take care.

Lol, wow, you remember me? I didn't think you would, considering how long it's been.
Yeah, I kind of got immersed in my websites and school and music and stuff, so I ended up having to abandon a few of my internet communities (it was a choice between that and sleep ), including the GIMP-related ones. I've actually been considering coming back lately; maybe I will if I think of some good tutorials or anything I want to contribute. *nods*
Oh, and here's a simple little banner I made from this tutorial earlier:
